Department of Biological Sciences Abstract A study was carried out in the forestry massif of Dana with the objective to estimate the level of exploitation of the principal woody species. A survey on 250 individuals in five revering villages (Tchalawa, Djougoumta, Namaina, Gorday and Konaway) and a floristic inventory from five strips (L1, L2, L3, L4, L5) was carried out to evaluate the most exploited ligneous species of versatile use in the forestry massif of Dana. Data analysis with SLSTAT 2007 showed that the causes of overexploitation of ligneous species in the forestry massif are building (72%), firewood (69.20%), feeding (50%). The dangerous consequences of these exploitations are climatic change (60.2%), desertification (40%) and charcoal (28%). The ligneous species such as Balanites aegyptiaca, Prosopis africana, Anogeissus oleicarpus, Acacia albida, Tamarindus indica, Vitelleria paradoxa are potentially the most exploited by the population. In order to the massif, revering populations advocate the use of local codes of management (39.2%), change of the massif to a community forest (35.20%), training of village committees of watching (34.4%), sensitizations (28.0%), regeneration of overexploited ligneous species under disappearance Key words: exploitation, forestry massif, management, Dana, for north region.
