Project : Investigations (« barometers ») on floor covering resins

OPPBTP carries out regularly in France investigations called “barometers” on different activities in
the field of building construction.
(Up today, the following “barometers” have been conducted on : individual housing, urban works,
wood workshops).
These “barometers” consist of surveys performed during few weeks on a specific subject with a
sample of around one thousand construction companies.
The actual project consists of establishing a “barometer” on floor covering resins in building
construction. It should be carried out in collaboration with the occupational medicine, in the beginning
of the year 2003 through a survey to be undertaken with a large panel of construction companies’
resins users. (Floor painting, waterproofing, floor covering).
For the data gathering, our organism, the OPPBTP shall rely on its national network structure in order
to cover the whole national territory.
This new “barometer” includes :

A simple multiple choice question paper covering the activity “floor covering resins»:
type of operations, work characteristics, type of products and toxicity, collective and
individual protective equipment.
−
The paper questionnaire analysis, giving an instant photography of the “floor covering
resins” activity on the national territory.
By the end of this “barometer”, its analysis will allow us to identify the weak points regarding
preventive and informations matters on chemical hazards associated with “floor covering resins”.
As a result of this investigation, a methodological guidebook with specifications sheets on the subject
will be published and handed out to the construction company’s resins users.
Briefing on this analysis will be made to the representation of professional body (employer’s,
syndicates and worker’s syndicates).
