La conférence du 20e anniversaire de l’ACPLS a eu lieu à l’hôtel Radisson Plaza à
St. John’s, Terre Neuve, les 10, 11 et 12 mai. Le thème était : L’apprentissage en liberté:
lumières sur l’avenir. La présidente de la conférence était Arlene Luke, et la présidente
de l’ACPLS était Joyce Fewer. La pré conférence a commencée le jeudi, et il y avait
quelques ateliers présentés par les personnes suivantes :

Nicole Grégoire, Université de Sherbrooke
Dr. Ester Enns-Connolly, Université de Calgary
Roger Tremblay, Université de Sherbrooke
Pendant les ateliers, il y a eu un dîner organisé par le Sr. Gladys Bozec, et par après, il y a
eu une rencontre avec le Comité d’intérêts spéciaux de l’ACPLS, suivie par une réception
durant la soirée.
Le vendredi, il y a eu l’inscription, un mot de bienvenue et un discours donné par le
conférencier principal, Mel Hurtig, intitulé : A Strong Bilingual Multicultural Country.
Puis, au cours de la journée, il y a eu les ateliers suivis par une réception et un banquet

Le samedi, il y a eu l’Assemblée annuelle générale de l’ACPLS, suivie par quelques
autres ateliers, ensuite la conférence s’est terminée avec un discours donné par Dr. Keith
McLeod intitulé : Multicultural and Human Rights Education: Approaching the End of
the Second Decade.
The 20th Anniversary of CASLT conference took place at the Radisson Plaza Hotel in St.
John’s Newfoundland, May 10-12. The theme was Freedom to learn: Focus for the
nineties. The chair was Arlene Luke, and the CASLT President that year was Joyce
Fewer. The pre-conference commenced on Thursday with the a few workshops
presented by the following:

Between these workshops, there was a luncheon presented by Sr. Gladys Bozec. Then,
there was a CASLT Special Interest Committee Meeting followed by a reception in the
evening.
On Friday, there was registration for the conference, a welcome and then the keynote
address by Mel Hurtig entitled: A Strong Bilingual Multicultural Country. The rest of
the day was spent doing workshops, and later on that evening, there was a reception and a

On the Saturday, there was an AGM breakfast, followed by a few more workshops, and
then the whole conference came to an end with the closing asddress made by Dr. Keith
McLeod entitled: Multicultural and Human Rights Education: Approaching the End of
the Second Decade.
