en 1953, la Chevrolet Corvette, c'est pour occuper un terrain que sont en train de monopoliser des marques comme
Jaguar ou MG, celui des voitures de sport. Stricte deux places, la Corvette innove avec une carrosserie en plastique.
De taille "europenne" et forte d'une ligne assez sobre, elle commence sa carrire avec un six cylindres, bientt remplac
par un V8 plus conforme aux habitudes d'outre-Atlantique, alors que la ligne volue vers une silhouette plus muscle,
gagnant en 1956 ses flancs creuss caractristiques. Paralllement, General Motors exploite en comptition ses qualits
sportives et elle devient rapidement une favorite des curies prives. On la verra sur les circuits amricains, mais aussi
en Europe. Par exemple, Briggs Cunningham engage huit Corvette aux 24 Heures du Mans 1960, celle de Fitch et
Grossman terminant 8e au classement gnral et 1re en GT de plus de 4 000 cm3. La Corvette 1960 que nous
prsentons a bnfici en 2007, en Angleterre, d'une restauration complte, chssis et carrosserie. Puis, en 2010, elle a t
confie quipe Europe, atelier dirig par Yvan Mah et acteur majeur de la comptition automobile historique. Elle a t
prpare pour la course dans la mme configuration que celle qui s'imposa au Mans en 1960. Les travaux effectus
concernent notamment: bote de vitesses Muncie M20, radiateur d'eau en aluminium, ventilateur dbrayable, radiateur
d'huile, vilebrequin acier, bielles et pistons forgs, suspension renforce, barres stabilisatrices, amortisseurs rglables,
rservoir de 120 litres en aluminium... Le total des travaux a dpass 40 000, les factures seront fournies au futur
acqureur. Le moteur V8 Chevrolet, neuf, d'une puissance de 380 ch, n'a t utilis depuis que dix heures. Cette voiture,
qui a fait l'objet de reportages dans deux magazines spcialiss, a particip au Mans Classic en 2010 et Spa Classic en
2011. Elle est accompagne de son passeport FIA et d'un lot important de pices dtaches: moteur d'poque en pices,
quatre jantes Torq Thrust en aluminium, cinq jantes acier avec pneus pluie neufs, un carburateur, des pices
d'allumage, des garnitures de freins... Trs performant, cette Corvette reprsente un ticket d'entre raisonnable et

Chevrolet Corvette in 1953, it was to foray into the sports car market that was being monopolized by the likes of
Jaguar and MG. A pure two-seater, the Corvette featured an innovative fibre-glass body. With a size that was more
'European', and with a sober look, the Corvette started off with a six-cylinder that was soon replaced by a V8, more
consistent with trends across the Atlantic, and the design also moved towards a more muscular figure, with the 1956
update with its scalloped sides. Meanwhile, General Motors made the most of the Corvette's sporting qualities,
entering the car for competition and soon the car became a favorite for privateers. And not just on the American
circuits, but the Corvette started being raced in Europe too. For example, Briggs Cunningham entered eight
Corvettes for the 1960 edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, with Fitch and Grossman finishing eighth overall and first
in the GT class over 4000cc. The 1960 Corvette that is on offer has benefited from a complete chassis-up restoration
from 2007, done in the UK. In 2010 the car was prepared by Equipe Europe, a preparation garage led by Yvan Mah,
who is well-known in the historic motor racing scene. The car was prepared for the race in the same configuration as
that from the 1960 Le Mans. The included a Muncie M20 transmission, aluminum radiator, cooling fan, oil cooler,
steel crankshaft, connecting rods and forged pistons, reinforced suspension, anti-roll bars, adjustable dampers, a
120 litre aluminum tank! The total work exceeds 40,000 and the invoices are all there for the prospective buyer to
see. The new Chevrolet V8 engine, with an output of 380bhp, has seen just teen hours of use. This car, which has
been featured in two magazines, participated in the 2010 edition of Le Mans Classic and at the Spa Classic of 2011.
It comes with its FIA passport and a large supply of spare parts: engine parts from then, four Torq Thrust aluminium
rims, steel wheels with five new rain tyres, carburetor, ignition parts, brake fittings... Of very high performance, this
Corvette is a reasonable entry ticket to some of the best of historical events and the most prestigious of
