What is
Global Entrepreneurship Week?
Global Entrepreneurship Week is the world’s largest celebration of
entrepreneurship.
From November 17-23, 2014, Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW)
will inspire people around the world through local, national and global
activities designed to help them explore their potential as self-starters
and innovators. These activities, from large-scale competitions and
events to intimate gatherings, connect participants to potential
collaborators, mentors and even investors – introducing them to new
possibilities and exciting opportunities.
We invite you to join Futurpreneur Canada, as the Canadian host for
the sixth consecutive year, and our incredible partners as we celebrate
Global Entrepreneurship Week Canada.
What is Canada doing this year?
Events – We will once again aim to have hundreds of events registered on the GEW Canada site. Anyone interested in
becoming a GEW Canada partner by hosting an event is encouraged to visit this page.
City Battle – For the past 2 years, Ottawa has hosted more events during GEW than any other Canadian city. They are taking
on challengers this year to see if anyone can beat their record and we will award the title of “Most Entrepreneurial Canadian
City” to whichever city has the most events registered on the GEW Canada site between November 17 and 23.
Campus Outreach – To increase the visibility of GEW on post-secondary campuses across Canada, a concentrated effort will
be made to reach out to students through a GEW Canada Campus Ambassador program. More information is available at

Get in the Ring – We are participating in this international pitch competition and will accept applications from Canadian
entrepreneurs from August 6 to September 17. More information about the international competition is available at
www.futurpreneur.ca/GetInTheRing.
Government Relations – GEW will once again be officially recognized by various levels of government and celebrated at
events on parliament hill and a the community level with government officials.
Media, Social Media and Blog Posts – Organizations and individuals from across the country are encouraged to show their
support for GEW and promote the movement to others via these platforms. A coordinated media efforts will showcase local
and national activities.
International Activities – Canada will support and participate in a variety of these events such as Startup Open, Global
Startup Battle, The GEW Policy Survey and Women’s Entrepreneurship Day.

3. Promote GEW to your network

spectrum in strengthening ecosystems around the world.

Become a GEW Partner:
Anyone can become a GEW partner by hosting an event, activity, or contest during GEW. Online or in-person, big or small, as long as your event is
celebrating and supporting entrepreneurship you’ll make a great partner.

Step 2: Once your registration is approved, you can login and enter your event(s)

internationales, organisées dans le cadre de la SME et conçues pour les aider à explorer leur capacité d’entreprendre et d’innover. Ces activités, qu’il
s’agisse de concours et d’événements à grande échelle ou de rencontres de réseautage plus intimes, visent à mettre les participants en contact avec des
collaborateurs, des mentors et même des investisseurs potentiels — en leur proposant de nouvelles possibilités et des occasions intéressantes. La SME

From November 17-23, 2014, Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) will inspire people around the world
through local, national and global activities designed to help them explore their potential as self-starters and
innovators. These activities, from large-scale competitions and events to intimate gatherings, connect

In 2013, the Canadian campaign boasted 595 activities coordinated and hosted by 400+ partners, supporters
and sponsors and a grand total of 221,157,129 impressions made through communication efforts.
Futurpreneur Canada is the official host of GEW Canada and is inviting Canadians to get involved in
celebrating, encouraging and showcasing entrepreneurship in Canada.
“Entrepreneurs are hardworking and dedicated individuals who contribute immensely to our country’s
economic growth and prosperity. This week, we celebrate their passion, drive and confidence,” said Prime
Minister Stephen Harper in an official statement supporting GEW 2013. “Entrepreneurs are the backbone of
the Canadian economy, and I encourage all Canadians to join me this week in celebrating their innovations
and successes.”

d’innovation, au moyen d’activités locales, nationales et internationales. Qu’il s’agisse de compétitions de
grande envergure ou de réunions intimes, ces événements visent à mettre les participants en contact avec des
collaborateurs éventuels, des mentors et même des investisseurs – leur permettant ainsi d’avoir accès à de
nouvelles possibilités et à des occasions intéressantes.

Partner Recognition
We are pleased to announce that in 2014, we will recognize the following partner levels to showcase
high impact contributors:
GEW Canada Trailblazer – Any organization that lists more than 10 GEW events will be recognized as a
Trailblazer. These partners will receive a digital badge and certificate and will be recognized as a top level
supporter on the website, through social media and on the blog.
GEW Canada Community Champion – Any organization that hosts 10 entrepreneurship events in
November will be recognized as a Community Champion. These partners will receive a digital badge and
will be recognized as a second level supporter on the website and through social media.
