------------------------------------Introduction:
Hysterectomy which a definite line of treatment of adenomyosis is not applicable to young women .
Many lines of treatment had been supposed with no satisfactory results. We introduce for the first time Farid intelligent
balloon so the aim of this work is to use this balloon to treat adenomyosis.
Material and Methods:
10 cases of proven adenomyosis were enrolled in the study. Leiomyoma smooth muscle cells were studied for oxytocin
receptors, estrogen receptors, connexin 16,Aquaporin(9) telomere length. Endometrial biopsy was studied for estrogen
receptors HOXA 10,and 11mRNA.
Transvaginal application of Farid intelligent balloon in which the balloon was covered by equal amount of Bee venom
ointment and Bee propolis ointment each in one half of the balloon.
The balloon was left for 3 weeks then removed .
Followup for 2 months and reporting for any complication.
Result:
Statistically significant decrease in uterine size, dysmenorrhea which was recorded by visual Analg scale ,bleeding,
smooth muscle myometrial cells, oxytocin receptors, estrogen receptors,Connexin 16,Aquaporin 9 telomere length after
2 months after treatment p<0.05.
Statistically significant increase in HB percentage, endometrial HOXA10,11 mRNA AND P<0.05 statistically significant
decrease of endometrial estrogen receptors,Telomers length .
No report of any complication, patient compliance was satisfactory.
Conclusion:
Farid intelligent balloon is a new modality of treatment of Adenomyosis with no reported side effects.
