Let`s go shopping….

Let’s go shopping….
You are a few years older…and, as it is often the case in the UK, you’re going to share a flat
with two friends. You must find furniture before the beginning of term. Your budget is: £ 1,200
for the three of you.
1. What you must do….
find the following pieces of furniture:
- for each of you : one mattress each, one desk each, one desk lamp each.
- for the common room : four chairs, one table, a sofa, a mirror, one floor light, one
shelf.
Be careful! You must choose the items carefully, according to your budget, and
to your tastes. (some objects are personal, some others aren’t!)
If there is some money left, you may buy one or more extra items .
2. Your personalities…
Chris: her favourite colours are the very bright ones, particularly red and orange. She loves
modern design, with metal and plastic. She hates old-style wooden furniture but she thinks
pine furniture is ok. She’s very keen on all sorts of sports. She is a student in law.
Tim: his favourite colours are natural colours, such as brown, white, grey, beige…but he
hates orange. He loves Scandinavian design, particularly the pieces of furniture made of
pinewood. He studies art, and loves climbing. He’s also a movie fan!

3. Marking
You virtually buy “on-line”, and when your basket is complete, you print your list.
Your “shopping” will get you 20/20 if you remain within the budget and you respect
everybody’s tastes. If you don’t, you may “lose” up to ten points.
Now you’re ready to go shopping and find your furniture at :
