Portrait d’un prêtre, frère dans un couvent dominicain à Paris, qui décide
au tournant de la quarantaine de devenir enseignant et qui témoigne de
son itinéraire humain et spirituel, de sa condition homosexuelle et de sa
recherche de vérité et de liberté au sein de l'Eglise catholique.

Portrait of a priest, a brother in a Dominican monastery in Paris, who
decides on approaching forty to become a teacher and discusses his human
and spiritual journey, his homosexuality and his search for truth and
freedom within the Catholic Church.
Biographie Biography
Né à Paris en 1985, Romain Baudéan réalise ses premiers courts métrages
au lycée. Après des études de montage et un séjour à l’Université de
Montréal, il entre à l’ENS Louis Lumière où il tourne “Le Pigeonnier” un
premier documentaire remarqué dans plusieurs festivals internationaux. Il
poursuit son apprentissage comme assistant caméra sur des longs métrages
de cinéastes indépendants (Bruno Dumont, Larry Clark, Alain Corneau…).
En 2012, il est l’assistant de la documentariste Mariana Otero sur le long
métrage “A ciel ouvert” produit par Denis Freyd et les frères Dardenne.
Lauréat en 2013 du Prix “Paris Jeunes Talents”, cette bourse lui permet
de réaliser “Un homme libre”.
Born in Paris in 1985, Romain Baudéan made his first short films at high
school. After studying film editing and a period at the University of
Montreal, he attended ENS Louis Lumière film school where he shot The
Pigeon House ¸ a first documentary that got him noticed at several
international film festivals. He continued his apprenticeship as a camera
assistant on feature films for a number of independent filmmakers
including Bruno Dumont, Larry Clark and Alain Corneau. In 2012, he was
assistant director to the documentary filmmaker Mariana Otero on the
feature-length documentary A ciel ouvert produced by Denis Freyd and the
Dardenne brothers. Winner of the 2013 Paris Jeunes Talents prize, he
used the grant to make A Free Man .
