Ballet Curriculum for Opals (O) Classes- Average age 5-8
Build and introduce Turn out, Alignment, Balance, Grace, Endurance, Strength, Flexibility,
Coordination, Self-Esteem, Performance Quality and Memory in Ballet technique.
Introduction and be able to know & do the following:
5 feet positions in turn out (1st -5th)
Flex and Point
Arm Positions (Port de bra) - en haut (High or 5th), en bas (low) devant (front or 1st), a la
seconde (2nd- to the side), intro to 3rd and 4th.
Using 1st, 2nd and 5th position with most combinations, intro with 4th:
Plie' - demi' and grand

Eleve'

Ballet Curriculum for Sapphires (S) Classes- Average age 8-12
Same as Opals (O) classes; however improvement from all introduction and requirements.
Endurance needs to improve, along with retaining and picking up material faster.
All moves and steps from (S) classes will need to be known, with coordination of using arm
placement, executing movement correctly and adding another movement simultaneously
(Tendu w/ port de bras), different timing and quality of movement.

requirements. Technique needs to improve with turn out, flexibility and strength. Alignment, position
and grace needs to improve.
All moves and steps from (S) classes will need to be known, with coordination of using arm placement,
executing movement correctly and adding another isolation and different timing.
