Seeing the computer as the final avatar of themythsoftheautomatonanddemiurge, anditsmemoriesascrucibles in which unlikely transmutations and digital chains are created, crossed and hybridised irrespective of their meaning, Reeves’s installations cover the immense possibilities offered by the formal nature of digital information, constantly maintaining a critical position with regard to the risks they involve. In one way or another, his works always relate to their environment or to a natural phenomenon. By the power and level of resolution of the methods that are used, by their capacity for adaptation in real time, new relations develop between the installations andthecontextinwhichtheyarecreated.TheHarpes à Nuages(Cloud Harps) transform the clouds in real time into timbres and melodies: the Sixième Diffractale (Sixth Diffractal) recapitulates the different ways of modulatingsunlight–bydiffraction, refractionandreflection.theJardin des Ovelyniers (Ovelyniers’ Garden) listens to the decomposition of orangeshiddeninsarcophagimadeofresinandgold:the Architectones Informatiques (Computer Architectons) convert clouds, pieces of music andnaturalsoundsintoarchitectons(inMalevich’ssense).Theyledtothe projectMorphogenèse par ondes sphériques (Morphogenesis by Spherical Waves),researchthatiscurrentlyunderway, aimingtoreversiblyconvert architecturalformsintomusicalsequences.Thisapproachledhim, along with the team at his studio/laboratory, NXI Gestatio, to develop several paths,fanningoutfromarchitecture-as-designviaarticlesandessaysfor artisticandcriticalmagazinesandresearchofamorespecificallyscientific nature.
