Fleur
Op één van de vele Parijse vlooienmarkten deden
we de inspiratie op voor de Fleur. Een Thonet-achtig stoeltje verraadde zijn leeftijd door “slijtage” op
het vlechtwerk. Het originele bruine Kraft papier
kwam door de ecru lak heen en dat maakte het
alleen nog maar mooier! De doorleefde jaren-30
charme hebben we in het herkenbare klassieke
ontwerp gestopt en gemixt met ons eigentijdse
weerbestendige Biculair® kunststof vlechtwerk.
De uitkomst is dat innovatie en traditie samenkomen in de lieflijke verschijning van de Fleur.
We gained inspiration for the Fleur at one of the
many flea markets in Paris. A small Thonet-style
chair betrayed its age through ‘wear and tear’ on
the wickerwork. The original brown Kraft paper
showed through the ecru varnish and that made
the whole thing even more attractive! We applied
this ‘lived in’, 1930s charm to the recognisably
classic design and combined it with our contemporary, weather-resistant Biculair® plastic wicker. The resulting mix of innovation and tradition
has led to the attractive look of the Fleur.
Auf einem der vielen Pariser Flohmärkte sammelten wir die
Inspiration für Fleur. Ein Stuhl im Stil Thonets verriet durch
sein “verschlissenes” Flechtwerk sein wahres Alter Das
braune Originalkraftpapier schien durch den ecrufarbenen
Lack hindurch und das machte alles nur noch schöner! Wir
haben den durchlebten Charme der 30er Jahre in diesen typisch klassischen Entwurf umgesetzt und mit unserem zeitgenössischen, witterungsbeständigen Biculair® KunststoffFlechtwerk kombiniert. Das Ergebnis ist Fleur, eine liebliche
Erscheinung, in der Innovation und Tradition eine Einheit bilden.
Notre Fleur a trouvé son inspiration sur l’une des nombreuses brocantes parisiennes, où une « usure » du cannage d’une
chaise de style Thonet trahissait son âge. Le papier kraft marron d’origine perçait sous le vernis écru et cela l’embellissait
encore davantage ! Nous avons intégré le charme vieilli des
années 30 dans le design classique et reconnaissable et nous
l’avons associé à notre cannage synthétique Biculair® moderne et résistant aux intempéries. Le résultat est un mariage d’innovation et de tradition qui donne à Fleur toute sa
charmante élégance.

Juul
Ode aan de grote Deense designers als Borge Mogensen, Hans Wergner & Arne Jacobsen. Zij lieten
zich voor hun meubeldesign inspireren door de
Bauhaus architectuur en zijn nu zelf inspiratiebron
voor de Juul-collectie. De kunst van het weglaten,
geen overbodige toeters en bellen en daardoor
tijdloos. Eenvoud en functionaliteit zijn leidend.
Toch wordt het lijnenspel nooit streng. Geen rechte hoeken, maar juist “softe” overgangen. Het ontwerp is ingetogen en niet dominant, waardoor het
bij bijna alle meubelstijlen te combineren is.

An ode to the great Danish designers such as Borge Mogensen, Hans Wergner & Arne Jacobsen.
They drew inspiration for their furniture designs
from Bauhaus architecture and now they themselves are the source of inspiration for the Juul collection. The art of reduction, no unnecessary frills,
and thus timeless. Simplicity and functionality are
the guiding principles, but the play of lines never
becomes severe. No right-angles, but instead only
soft transitions. The design is restrained and not
overpowering, allowing it to be combined with almost all furniture styles.
Eine Ode an große dänische Designer wie Borge Mogensen,
Hans Wergner und Arne Jacobsen. Sie ließen sich bei ihrem
Möbeldesign von der Bauhaus-Architektur inspirieren und
sind jetzt selbst zur Inspirationsquelle für die Juul-Kollektion
geworden. Es ist die Kunst des Weglassens, ohne überflüssige Schnörkel und dadurch mit einem zeitlosen Charakter.
Schlichtheit und Funktionalität bilden den Leitfaden. Dennoch ist das Linienspiel niemals streng. Keine rechten Winkel, sondern stattdessen fließende Überleitungen. Der Entwurf ist zurückhaltend und keineswegs dominant, sodass

Key West
Long Island
Om een centje bij te verdienen in de wintermaanden, vlochten boerenknechten in mijn geboortestreek vroeger houtblokkenmanden en korven van
wilgenteen. Eenvoudig van vorm en ijzersterk door
het robuuste materiaal. De Key West heeft diezelfde ongecompliceerde en stoere looks van toen.
De afmetingen zijn vriendelijk, de vorm kubistisch.
De combinatie van stevige zitkussens en softe rugkussens geeft een goed zitcomfort dat je behaaglijk omarmt... Sako Wijma.
Robuuste teakhouten balken, samengesmolten
tot een stoer en tijdloos loungemeubel. De Long
Island blijft zéker niet onopgemerkt in je tuin of op
je terras, in welke opstelling dan ook!
During the winter months in the region where I
come from, farm-hands used to earn a little extra by
weaving willow branches into log baskets and similar items. These items had a simple form and were
extremely strong thanks to the robust material. The
Key West features the same uncomplicated and
sturdy look as those old wicker baskets, together
with friendly dimensions and a cubist form. Thanks
to the combination of firm seat cushions and soft
back cushions, the chair enfolds you in a comfortable embrace when you sit down... Sako Wijma.
Um etwas Geld hinzuzuverdienen, flechteten die Bauernknechte in meiner Heimat in den Wintermonaten Körbe
für Holzscheite und Weidenkörbe an. Die Körbe hatte eine
einfache Form und waren durch das robuste Material sehr
strapazierfähig. Die Möbel der Reihe Key West haben den
gleichen unkomplizierten und derben Look wie einst. Die Abmessungen sind freundlich, die Form ist kubistisch geprägt.
Die Kombination aus festen Sitzkissen und weichen Rückenlehnen garantiert einen hohen Sitzkomfort, der Sie behaglich
in die Arme schließt... Sako Wijma.

and timeless lounge set. The Long Island certainly
won’t go unnoticed in your garden or on your terrace, whichever arrangement you choose!

Autrefois, pour gagner un peu d’argent durant les mois
d’hiver, les garçons de ferme de ma région natale tressaient des paniers et corbeilles à bûches en pousses de saule.
La forme était simple et la solidité était parfaite grâce à la
robustesse de la matière. Le Key West présente la même
apparence simple et robuste d’antan. Les dimensions sont
accueillantes et la forme est cubiste. L’association de la fermeté des coussins d’assise et de la douceur des coussins de

Luna
Module-X
Wat maakt het ontwerp van het ION hotel in IJsland zo mooi? Het antwoord op deze vraag inspireerde tot het ontwerp van de Luna. De spanning
tussen rechthoekige en ronde vormen. Fire & Ice,
Hot & Cold, zijn de woorden die de architect van
het hotel gebruikt. In de Luna is dat vertaald in de
strakke vormgeving en materialenmix. Het direct
herkenbare rechthoekige, koele aluminium frame
gecombineerd met de warme, teak houten decoratieve ronde staanders. De grove stofkeuze in de
grijsbruine kleur is een knipoog naar het IJslandse
“maanlandschap” waaruit het hotel ijzig en koud
opdoemt. Maar schijn bedriegt, want eenmaal binnen word je opgenomen in een sfeer van warmte
en comfort. Precies wat je ervaart als je incheckt
in de Luna!
What makes the design of the ION hotel in Iceland so beautiful? The answer to this question inspired us in the design of the Luna. It’s all about
the tension between square and round forms. Fire
& Ice, Hot & Cold, these are the words used by the
hotel architect. In the Luna this is translated into
the sleek design features and the mix of materials.
The characteristic rectangular, cool aluminium
frame combines with the warm, decorative, round
teakwood uprights. The coarse-seeming, greybrown fabric is a nod to the Icelandic ‘moon landscape’ from which the hotel rises, icy and cold. But
appearances are deceptive, because once inside
the building you find yourself wrapped in a warm
and comfortable atmosphere. Just what you experience when you check in to the Luna!
Warum ist der Entwurf des ION Hotels in Island so schön? Die
Antwort auf diese Frage bildete die Inspirationsquelle für den
Entwurf von Luna. Es ist die Spannung zwischen rechtwinkligen und runden Formen. Fire & Ice, Hot & Cold, das sind
die Worte, die der Architekt des Hotels benutzte. In der Serie
Luna kommt dies in einem strengen Design und einem Mix
aus mehreren Materialien zum Ausdruck. Der eindrückliche,
rechtwinklige, kühle Aluminiumrahmen ist mit dekorativen
runden Stützen aus warmem Teakholz kombiniert. Die Wahl
des groben Stoffes in der Farbe Graubraun ist ein Verweis auf
die isländische “Mondlandschaft”, aus der das Hotel eisig
und kalt emporragt. Doch der Schein trügt, denn ist man erst
einmal im Inneren des Gebäudes, wird man in eine Atmosphäre aus Wärme und Komfort eingehüllt. Genau das ist auch
die Erfahrung, die man beim Einchecken mit Luna macht!

D’où vient la beauté du design de l’hôtel ION en Islande ?
C’est la réponse à cette question qui a inspiré la conception
de Luna. La tension entre les formes à angles droits et les
formes arrondies. Le feu et la glace, le chaud et le froid sont
les mots clés utilisés par l’architecte créateur de l’hôtel. Luna
traduit ces concepts en un design et un mélange de matières
sobres. Le cadre immédiatement reconnaissable en aluminium froid et à angles droits est associé à des pieds ronds
décoratifs en teck chaud. Le choix du tissu grossier en coloris
brun gris est un clin d’œil au paysage « lunaire » d’Islande
dont émerge l’hôtel de manière froide et glaciale. Mais il ne
faut pas se fier aux apparences, car une fois à l’intérieur, vous
êtes emporté dans une ambiance de chaleur et de confort,
exactement comme dans le cas de Luna!

During the winter months in the region where I come from, farm-hands used to earn a little extra by weaving willow branches into log baskets and similar items. These items had a simple form and were extremely strong thanks to the robust

We gained inspiration for the Fleur at one of the many flea markets in Paris. A small Thonet-style chair betrayed its age through
‘wear and tear’ on the wickerwork. The original brown Kraft paper showed through the ecru varnish and that made the whole
thing even more attractive! We applied this ‘lived in’, 1930s charm to the recognisably classic design and combined it with our
contemporary, weather-resistant Biculair® plastic wicker. The resulting mix of innovation and tradition has led to the attractive
look of the Fleur.

An ode to the great Danish designers such as Borge Mogensen, Hans Wergner & Arne Jacobsen. They drew inspiration for their
furniture designs from Bauhaus architecture and now they themselves are the source of inspiration for the Juul collection. The
art of reduction, no unnecessary frills, and thus timeless. Simplicity and functionality are the guiding principles, but the play of
lines never becomes severe. No right-angles, but instead only soft transitions. The design is restrained and not overpowering,
