Qui sont ces femmes et ces hommes qui ont décidé de s’engager dans une lutte quotidienne contre les injustices ?
Sa guitare sur le dos Krid déambule dans les rues et les marchés à la frontière entre la
Thaïlande et le Cambodge. Son T-shirt marqué du logo de l’ONG FRIENDS est un laissezpasser aussi utile avec les douaniers qu’avec les malfrats de cette petite zone de non droit
où se croisent commerce et trafic. Krid est là pour prendre soin des enfants des rues.
Chaque jour lors de ses tournées le jeune homme se tient au courant des évènements puis
essaye de repérer les nouveaux jeunes qui travaillent illégalement et les clandestins en transit.
Après la prise de contact il doit mettre en confiance ces garçons et fillettes qui ont souvent connu
des atrocités. La plupart sont mineurs, beaucoup ont une dizaine d’années et sont parfois accompagnés de leurs frère ou sœur d’à peine 4 ans. Grâce à sa patience et sa bonhomie Krid a su à se
faire accepter. Avec sa musique il offre un peu de détente et en profite pour donner des conseils
d’hygiène, de santé, mettre en garde contre les dangers que pourraient rencontrer ces candidats
à l’exode. L’idée est de faire renoncer aux enfants et adolescents à la tentation d’aller à Bangkok
où trop souvent les mêmes schémas se répètent : petite délinquance, drogue, violence, prostitution, prison…
Les équipes de FRIENDS offrent un soutient moral, des aides médicales et judiciaires. Ils aident à
la (re)scolarisation, et proposent des formations professionnelles. Apprendre à connaître chaque
enfant et son histoire permet de chercher de solutions individuelles pour, si possible, donner les
moyens à la famille de reprendre en charge l’enfant et lui rendre son ingénuité.
Krid est un jeune thaïlandais souriant de 24 ans, il aime la musique et le cyclisme, son rêve serait
de venir en Europe pour suivre le Tour de France. Il a une petite amie depuis deux ans mais ne
pense pas encore au mariage. Krid vient d’une province pauvre du sud de la Thaïlande mais a eu
une enfance sans difficulté. Après avoir finit ses études à l’université il s’engage comme travailleur social auprès de l’ONG FRIENDS INTERNATIONAL.
Depuis plus de 15 années cette organisation née en Asie du Sud Est et qui a étendue son activité
sur tous les continents s’évertue à venir en aide aux enfants des rues. Sont considérés comme
tels les enfants et jeunes adultes qui vivent et dorment dans la rue mais également ceux qui y
ont une activité illégale : mendicité, travail au noir, vente ou consommation de stupéfiants, vol,
prostitution.
Ce film est le portrait d’un homme qui, a décidé d’employer sa vie à améliorer celles des autres,
sans pour autant tomber dans l’abnégation. Filmé sur plusieurs saisons nous découvrirons le quotidien de Krid à la fois dans son travail et dans son intimité. Qu’est-ce qui le motive ? qu’est-ce qui
le fait tenir ? Invités à partager son, mode de vie nous allons être les témoins de son évolution, de
ses joies et de ses doutes. Nous partagerons ces expériences à la fois douloureuses et pleines
d’humanité.
Ce film fait partie d’une série de portraits de femmes et d’hommes solidaires de leurs contemporains et qui ont décidé, à leur manière, de ne pas rester passifs.
Chaque film présentera une personne investie dans une lutte particulière. Les victimes d’injustices
sont malheureusement nombreuses tout comme les causes : maladies, guerres, catastrophes
naturelles, exploitation, oppression, exclusion… à travers ces portraits le spectateur va découvrir
et comprendre des problématiques dont il n’avait parfois pas conscience mais
va aussi assister à l’acharnement d’une poignée d’engagés qui fera tout pour
mettre en place des solutions.
Sans mettre en avant une association ou un projet plus qu’une autre je souhaite rendre hommage à ces héros de l’ombre, redonner un visage humain
aux plus faibles et surtout sensibiliser les spectateurs, leur donner envie, à
leur tour, d’agir…

Who are these men and women who have decided to dedicate themselves to the daily fight
against injustice?
With his guitar on his back, Krid wanders through the streets and the markets on the border
between Cambodia and Thailand. His T-shirt, marked with the logo of the FRIENDS NGO
is a passport that is both useful for the Customs officials and the crooks in this no man’s
land where commerce and trafficking meet. Krid is there to take care of the street children.
On his daily rounds, the young man gets up to date on events while trying to identify the new
youths working illegally and can understand and stowaways in transit. After the initial contact,
he must gain the confidence of these boys and girls who have often been the victim of atrocities.
Most are minors and many are around 10 years old usually accompanied by a younger brother
or sister of around four years old. Thanks to his patience and kindness, Krid has been accepted
among them. Using his music, he offers a little relaxation and takes advantage to give some
advice on health and hygiene as well as about the dangers that these exiles may face. The idea
is to convince children and adolescents not to go to Bangkok where history often repeats itself:
small crime, drugs, violence, prostitution, prison…
The teams from FRIENDS provide moral support as well as medical and legal help. They help
get the kids back to school and offer them professional training. Getting to know each child and
their story is an effective method to finding individual solutions and, where possible, providing the
means for the child’s family to take care of them and to give them back their innocence.
Krid is the 24-year-old Thai man who loves music and cycling. He dreams of coming to Europe to
follow the Tour de France. He has had a girlfriend for two years but isn’t thinking of marriage yet.
Krid is from a poor province in the south of Thailand but had a childhood without difficulty. After
university, he joined the FRIENDS INTERNATIONAL NGO as a social worker.
For more than 15 years this organisation, originally from Southeast Asia and now present on most
continents, attempts to come to the help of street children. That doesn’t just include the children
and young adults that live and sleep on the street but also those cut up in illegal activities: begging, illegal work, selling and taking drugs, stealing and prostitution.
This film is the portrait of a man who has decided to spend his life improving that of others without
falling into abnegation. Filmed over several seasons, we share the life of Krid, both professional
and personal. What drives him? What keeps him going? As guests invited to observe his way of
life, we will witness both his joys and his doubts. We will share his painful experiences that are
still wonderfully human.
This film belongs to a series of portraits of men and women who stand beside those around them
and who have decided, in their own way, not to remain indifferent. Each film is the story of an
individual committed to a particular battle. Unfortunately, there aren’t many victims of injustice and
almost as many causes: disease, war, natural disaster, exploitation, oppression, exclusion etc. By
these portraits, the audience will discover and understand problems they did not necessarily know
about before but they will also learn about the fierce determination of a handful
of committed individuals dedicated to finding solutions.
Without putting emphasis on one association or project over another, I would
like to pay homage to these unseen heroes, to put faces on the weakest and
poorest as well as, above all, making the audience aware of situations while
giving them inspiration to act in turn.
