A few weeks ago, we announced that Marco Lucchinelli and Jan de Vries would attend Coupes Moto
Légende. Unfortunately, they had to cancel their appearance on account of a busy schedule… BUT the
substitute is no mere upstart! Phil Read, England’s most awarded rider, will be among us.
A prestigious series of wins, an incomparable style and a demanding personality have made Philip William
Read into one of motorcycle racing’s most striking celebrities.
This outstanding champion boasts 7 Grand Prix World Champion titles: on 125 cc in 1968, on 250 cc in
1964, 1965, 1968 and 1971, and on 500 cc in 1973 and 1974. He also won the Formula 1 TT in 1977.
After 13 years spent on the circuits, Phil Read has scored a total 52 victories (ten on 125 cc, twenty-seven
on 250 cc, four on 350 cc, eleven on 500 cc), made 121 podiums and racked up 36 best lap times in World
Championships.
