MARIE WOHLFAHRT FINE ART
MARIE WOHLFAHRT FINE ART STATEMENT As an artist who studied chemistry, particularly pigments & dyes, my process of creation is about finding the correct balance between texture, elements found on the seashore and intuitive colors. Collecting seashells is second nature and growing up in Brittany, on the western coast of France, the landscape, energy and folklore from this region always inspires me – they are the roots of my paintings and the place where I gather most of my materials. Besides the USA, I have been very fortunate to visit or even live in many other places…Sweden, Great Britain, Belgium, Israel, Morocco, Brazil, the Caribbean, to name a few. From each single trip, I will bring “a treasure” that will nurture a new painting. Each of those elements are brought back to my studio here in Pennsylvania, to be “re-purposed” and continue their Journey! Since her childhood, she has always been interested in practicing several of the 7 Arts: painting of course, but also music and dance. Marie studied piano and violin for 8 years, clarinet and started ballet at the age of 5. One of her first choice for college was Art & Design, so called “Les Beaux Arts” in France, but Science was also high on her list. She decided to further study chemistry. Her dream was to create perfumes! She is still in love with perfumes, essential oils & the art of assembling components & odors; she graduated from a Chemical Engineering school with a Major in Product & Color Design. Art, creation & sensitivity are still underlying… Once she was first hired, she specialized in the theory of colors and the chemistry of industrial coatings used on decorated objects. As she “grew” in it, she moved to the USA and further became the expert in the design of the newest color trends. Recognized as an expert in her field, she uses her knowledge of the industrial world to complement her artistic discoveries & experimentations in Fine Art. Living in Lebanon, Pennsylvania with her husband and two children, their culture and habits are still deeply influenced by their European roots; France and Austria. Through her vibrant personality, her paintings show how passionate she is about Creativity, Nature & Colors.
