In October 2012, founding members of the new Business Revitalising Zone (BRZ) announced the formal
launch of The French Quarters / le Quartier francophone Business Association from Millcreek to Bonnie
Doon in Edmonton. Today, the Chairperson of the Board of Directors, Ms Patricia Lachance is pleased to
announce the nomination of Mr Jean Johnson as their new Executive Director.
Mr Johnson, a long term resident of the area and a known leader in the French speaking community, is
pleased to commence this challenge and is looking forward to working closely with the Board of
Directors. The focus is on the local business community working together to build and to enhance a
strong business revitalization branding message. Ms Lachance stated that : “Mr Johnson is the perfect
choice to help us establish French Quarters distinctiveness and attraction. His experience as a business
consultant, and his tenure as past President of the Provincial francophone association, l’ACFA
(Association Canadienne-Française de l’Alberta) makes him the perfect candidate for the new job and
BRZ association's mission.”
Jean Johnson says he looks forward to the new challenge : " I am looking forward to developing strong
ties with local business, to work with them on the business advantages of belonging to the French
Quarters district, as well as with local residents, local organisations, and institutions that contribute to
the area’s joie de vivre.”
The French Quarter Business Association’s mission is: "The French Quarter will lead the revitalisation of
the district by harnessing and leveraging its resources to beautify the area, retain and promote area
businesses and encourage the development and utilisation of great outdoor spaces. The unique
francophone character is the foundation of its unique value proposition, which will attract people to
come to live, shop, work and play."

En octobre dernier, les membres fondateurs du Zone de Revitalisation Commerciale (ZRC) annonçait la
mise en œuvre du Quartier francophone, et ce, de Millcreek à Bonnie Doon à Edmonton. Madame
Patricia Lachance, Présidente du Conseil d’Administration, est fière d’annoncer la nomination de
monsieur Jean Johnson à titre de premier directeur général de l'association.
Mr Johnson est bien connu parmi les francophones partout en province à titre d'ancien président de
l’ACFA (Association canadienne-française de l’Alberta). Résident de la région depuis plusieurs années,
consultant expérimenté dans le domaine des affaires: « Monsieur Johnson est la personne idéale pour
entamer la mise en place de cette nouvelle zone de revitalisation commerciale, le Quartier
francophone » de dire la présidente madame Lachance. « Son leadership et sa capacité de rassembler
les gens nous permettra de rallier les entrepreneurs à une vision commune et d'établir un ‘branding’
distinct de cette partie de la Ville d'Edmonton. » Monsieur Johnson se dit très enthousiaste et prêt à
consacrer beaucoup d’énergie pour relever le nouveau défi que lui propose les membres du conseil
d'administration.
La mission de la nouvelle association pour la Zone de Revitalisation Commerciale (ZRC) du Quartier
Francophone est claire: " Le Quartier francophone dirigera la revitalisation du quartier en optimisant ses
ressources pour embellir le quartier, pour attirer, retenir et promouvoir les entreprises locales et pour
encourager le développement et l’utilisation des espaces extérieurs. Le caractère unique francophone de
la région est l’élément de base pour créer sa proposition de valeur unique, ce qui attirera les gens à y
venir vivre, travailler, magasiner et se divertir."
