“Opus 1” est initialement paru en 1983, le groupe suédois OPUS EST existant alors depuis 1978. Le
guitariste de ce groupe, Kent Olofsson, devait devenir plus tard un compositeur renommé de musique
contemporaine (musique de chambre, musique électronique). Ces dix pièces raffinées et sophistiquées proposent
un progressif plutôt synthétique, avec des claviers dominateurs, un jeu de batterie très dynamique et dense, et un
très bon chanteur, dont la voix rappelle celle de Peter Hammill sur ses premiers albums. Principalement
influencé par Genesis, ELP et Yes, Opus Est crée une musique très rafraîchissante, pleine de breaks et d’énergie.

« Opus 1 » was initially released in 1983 by the Swedish band OPUS EST, created in 1978. It was the
first band in which the composer Kent Olofsson played (guitars/bass). He became then a famous composer in
modern contemporary music (chamber music, electronic music). These refined and sophisticated progressive
pieces are based on dominant keyboards, dynamic drumming, and an excellent singer, with a voice not unlike
Peter Hammill in his first albums. Mainly influenced by Genesis, ELP and Yes, Opus Est creates a refined
synthetic progressive rock, with lots of breaks and energy.
