The presence of American and German Veterans, the children of Sainte-Mère-Eglise,
Picauville, Chef-du-Pont, Sainte-Marie-du-Mont and Carentan schools will enhance
Peace. Accompanied by Texan and German choirs, the children will celebrate
Friendship, Brotherhood and links between Men with songs or texts. These values
will be passed on by the children. Be there for this symbolic moment where emotion
and Peace take their true sense.

This exhibition shows the bravery of an American generation known as the
GREATEST GENERATION. Entrance fee: 5€
It is about the story of the 101st Airborne men during Carentan liberation and of war
correspondents who have saved in time one of the most important battles for the
success of D-Day.
A special “Stars & Stripes” will be edited by the newspaper, that still exists and
given out during the exhibition.

Theatre play “What if we build Peace together?”: “Maison de la Paix” is an international project for education
to Peace and Reconciliation. The idea of a spectacle in three languages is to gather three countries with an
essential role in WW2 and deliver together a message of Peace and of Love. The aim is to heal the wounds of
History and take responsibility for the past. Art can go through language barriers and frontiers. We want to give
the conviction that Peace can only happen if we all work together for a better and fairer world.

50th General Hospital in Saint Hilaire Petitville are shown. A 20-min color film telling
the life of the 50th General Hospital medical staff is to be seen. A lot of objects,
surgery and medical tools found by passionate inhabitants are exposed. Free

Conference “Illegal annexation of Alsace and Moselle
by Nazi Germany” (in French)
This irredentism has permit to the 3rd Reich to incorporate
by force French men in its Army. More than 900 young men born in
1926 came from Normandy under Waffen-SS uniform. More than 150 left
thanks to the Normans. The association “Solidarité Normande aux Incorporés
de Force d’Alsace-Moselle” leads the meeting of testimonies and historians. It is for keeping the memory of
“Malgré-Nous” (men from Alsace-Lorraine who were incorporated in German armies) in Normandy and for
the gratitude to the Normans who have helped them. Conseil Général of Haut-Rhin will join to give diplomas
to people and families who made this happened.

Free Car parks will be open for cars around the site of the parachute drops, situated between “la Fière”,
Amfreville, Picauville and Chef-du-Pont.
ACCESS CAR PARKS:
- From CAEN/CARENTAN : take the exit BLOSVILLE direction CHEF du PONT and then PICAUVILLE. Follow
car park signs.
- From CHERBOURG : take the exit NEUVILLE AU PLAIN, enter Sainte-Mère-Eglise. Take the direction of
PICAUVILLE and follow the signs in the hamlet “Hiersac”.
As soon as these car parks will be full, you will have to park around the center of Sainte-Mère-Eglise.
Distance to “la Fière”: 3 km.
FOR PEDESTRIANS ONLY:
D15 between Sainte-Mère-Eglise and Picauville is forbidden for all vehicles– Around 45 minute-walk (3,5 km).
AMBULANCE ONLY:
Road toward Cauquigny starting from Neuville au Plain bridge (exit RN13) is forbidden for all vehicles.
PEOPLE with REDUCED MOBILITY:
Free shuttles (minibus 12 places) between Sainte-Mère-Eglise, rue des AFN (Bridge of N13, direction
Picauville) are available starting from 9.00 a.m.

Sainte-Mère-Eglise center will be closed from Thursday 5th June (7.00 p.m.) until Monday 9th June (8.00 a.m.) in
order to leave the town accessible to pedestrians and all the animations.
Several free car-parks are at your disposal at the entrances of the town.
Camping-cars
Some of the car parks will be exclusively for CAMPING-CARS around Sainte-Mère-Eglise from Monday 2nd June,
7.00 p.m. 5€/day. Circulation will be possible for water supply and services:
- Super U, ZA les Crutelles, Sainte-Mère-Eglise
- Camping, rue 505e Airborne, Sainte-Mère-Eglise
On Sunday 8th June, camping-cars won’t be allowed to leave the car-parks between 8.00 a.m. and 7.00 p.m..
Bus car parks
Next to the market hall, a car-park is available.
Otherwise, car-parks will be open exclusively next to the firefighters (follow indications)
