2013 Internship offer
We are looking for a motivated student with an interest in developing econometrical models based on
time series for the forecasting of price and spread. The work experience placement would be for 6
months with Offre et Demande Agricole (ODA) and ODA’s affiliates, who are a leading consulting
company of price risk for agricultural raw materials.
• Company profile:
Offre et Demande Agricole (ODA) and ODA’s affiliates, have been operating since 1997 and
specialise in price risk management of agricultural raw materials. The objective of the company is to
train, inform and advise clients in the management of their sales and purchases of grain and oilseeds.
Clients include arable growers, livestock producers, coops, merchants, millers, feed manufacturers,
and other industrial grain users. As a leader in Europe, the company develops a range of information
and advice products.
• Context:
The knowledge of commodities supply is the guiding element for understanding agricultural raw
materials markets price trends. To guarantee the quality and the independence of its market analysis,
Offre et Demande Agricole since its creation has developed its own econometrical financial models
and decision support tools.
• Objective:
The topic of this internship is:
“Development of wheat markets interconnection model and market risk management”
From existing research studies, duties include:
- getting familiar with financial markets (4 days training programme provided)
- collecting and structuring required data bases to carry out the study
- statistical analyzing of market features
- using own econometrical skills to perform spread analyses (univariate, multivariate
modeling, clustering, etc…)
- controlling each modelling steps (calibration, validation, forecast quality)
- development of arbitrage operations application
- setting up development procedures and final user guide
The internship is for a minimum of 6 months, based in the headquarters in France (Bourges). Starting
date is flexible. Internship allowance.
• Student profile:
We are looking for MSc student specialized in econometrics, statistics and finance. Knowledge in
statistics and database management is required. Knowledge in programming languages e.g. VBA is
appreciated. During this internship, you will be supervised by the R&D manager and the econometrics
analyst. Good writing skills and the ability to work independently required. An understanding of
French would be an advantage.

Given the sharp growth of the company, job opportunities will arise in France as well as abroad within
the R&D department or within the other departments of the company. The AMR group often takes on
trainees and integrates them into the company at the end of their internships.
