Lisa Wood is a Winnipeg artist.
She received her Masters of Fine
Arts degree from Yale University and
her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the
University of Manitoba. Lisa has been
the recipient of many awards and
scholarships and has exhibited locally,
nationally, and internationally. As a
child, Lisa spent summers at Clear Lake
in rented cabins and remembers the
ice cream from McTavish’s, the fries
and burgers from the Wig Wam, and
picnics at the beach.

Lisa Wood est une artiste de Winnipeg.
Elle a obtenu un baccalauréat en beauxarts de l’Université du Manitoba et une
maîtrise en beaux-arts de l’université
Yale. Elle a été récipiendaire de nombreux
prix et bourses d’études et elle a
exposé ses œuvres sur les scènes locale,
nationale et internationale. Enfant,
Lisa a passé ses étés à Clear Lake dans
des chalets loués et elle se souvient de la
crème glacée de McTavish’s, des frites
et des hamburgers du Wig Wam, ainsi
que des pique-niques sur la plage.
RESIDENCY PROJECT
DESCRIPTION DU PROJET
Lisa will be expanding upon an ongoing
series of paintings tentatively titled
Breaking Bread. Inspired by 17th century
Dutch Genre paintings, Breaking Bread
employs a contemporary take on
celebrations built around food. While
at Clear Lake, Lisa will invite a guest
each week to share a meal with her
somewhere on location within the
park. Her guest will be photographed
enjoying the meal in the Clear Lake
setting, and then become the subject
of a painting.
Lisa travaillera à compléter une série
courante de peintures provisoirement
intitulée Breaking Bread. Inspirées par
la peinture de genre hollandaise du
XVIIe siècle, les peintures proposent
un point de vue contemporain sur les
célébrations qui entourent la nourriture.
Pendant son séjour à Clear Lake, elle
invitera chaque semaine une personne
à partager un repas avec elle quelque
part dans le parc. Lisa photographiera
la personne invitée pendant le repas
dans le décor de Clear Lake pour en
faire le sujet d’une peinture.
