B3K 5J7 Tél. : (902) 425-1600 Téléc. : (902) 423-6530 Courriel : [email protected] A SPECIAL JOURNEY THROUGH NOVA SCOTIA ACADIAN COMMUNITIES FOR THE FLAME OF THE 29E FINALE DES JEUX DE L’ACADIE HALIFAX (May 22, 2008) – The flame for the 29th Finale des Jeux de l’Acadie will follow a unique road map around Nova Scotia. To commemorate the first time this Finale is held in Nova Scotia, the flame will leave Tracadie-Sheila in New Brunswick on June 1st. Contrary to tradition, the flame will not tour former Finale host communities, but will be taken on a tour of Acadian communities and schools throughout Nova Scotia. On June 6th, it will arrive in Halifax Regional Municipality, host city for the Finale des Jeux de l’Acadie This unique tour, sponsored by Acadian Seaplants Limited will offer young athletes from throughout Acadian Nova Scotia an opportunity to carry the flame. In every host community or school a welcoming committee has been set up and representatives from community organizations, schools, and the provincial government will be invited to say a few words. The flame relay will be traveling throughout the Province accompanied by the 29e Finale Organizing Committee representatives Sonia Losier, Flame Relay committee coordinator, Roger Arsenault, President, and Suzanne Roy, Advertising and Promotion. The famous mascot of the Jeux de l’Acadie, the beloved Acajoux, will be there, of course! The whole community is invited to join the Organizing Committee members as the flame goes through your town or community. Let the good times roll…or run !
