FORME DE CHAMPIONNAT DU SIC/CIS CHAMPIONSHIP FORM 1 TECHNIQUE In the first photo, Laval’s Pierre-André Perron (#18) shows excellent form in preparing to attack a back set against two Alberta blockers during a first-round match at the 2005 CIS men’s Championships. Perron’s eyes are focused on the ball, which allows him to strike it cleanly. The elbow of his spiking arm -- his left arm -- is pulled back in a high position, ensuring a high contact point. His other arm is out in front of his body and his knees are flexed, enabling him to generate power by pulling that arm into his body and straightening his legs as he swings at the ball. In the second photo, Calgary’s Reid Brodie displays great form while hitting during the bronze medal match against Alberta at the CIS women’s Championships. A good vertical arm extension allows Brodie to contact the ball at a high position, well above the net. She has pulled her bent left arm into her body while straightening her legs to help generate additional power. The intensity in her face and the tension in her neck and right arm suggest that she is about to deliver a powerful spike.
