On croyait Corto perdu à jamais, quelque part, sur une île déserte de l’Océan
Pacifique. Vingt ans après la mort de son créateur, le génial Hugo Pratt, Rubén
Pellejero et Juan Díaz Canales l’ont ressuscité avec brio avec Sous le soleil de
minuit (éditions Casterman).
Pellejero a mis sa touche personnelle dans ce Corto, sans essayer d’imiter Pratt,
en s’appuyant sur l’âme de la série. Paysages du Grand Nord, confrontations entre
Histoire et histoires, rencontres improbables, tout y est, à commencer par le
talent d’un dessinateur en pleine maturité.
La galerie Champaka Paris a le privilège de proposer à la vente une large sélection
de planches issues de cet exceptionnel come-back littéraire. Avec un plafond de
20 planches pouvant être vendues, l’exposition sera accompagnée d’aquarelles
inédites.
Corto was believed to be lost forever, somewhere on a desert island in the Pacific
Ocean. Twenty years after the death of his creator, the genial Hugo Pratt, Rubén
Pellejero and Juan Díaz Canales have brought him back to life in Under the Midnight
Sun (Casterman editions).
Pellejero has brought his personal touch to this Corto, without trying to imitate Pratt,
by focussing on the soul of the series. Great Northern landscapes, confrontations
between stories and History, unlikely encounters, everything is here, starting with
the talent of an artist in his mature prime.
The Champaka Paris gallery is proud to offer for sale a large selection of the pages
from this exceptional literary comeback. With a maximum of 20 pages available for
purchase, the exhibition is accompanied by new works in watercolour.

We dachten dat Corto voorgoed verloren was, ergens op een verlaten eiland in de
Stille Zuidzee. Twintig jaar na de dood van zijn schepper, de geniale Hugo Pratt,
hebben Rubén Pellejero en Juan Díaz Canales hem op schitterende wijze weer tot
leven gewekt met Onder de Middernachtzon (Uitgeverij Casterman )
Pellejero gaf deze Corto zijn persoonlijk tintje en probeerde niet Pratt te imiteren.
Hij richtte zich vooral op de ziel van de reeks. Landschappen uit het Hoge Noorden,
de confrontatie tussen de grote geschiedenis en de anekdote, onwaarschijnlijke
ontmoetingen. Alles is er, ook het talent van een volrijpe tekenaar.
Galerij Champaka Parijs heeft het voorrecht een ruime selectie platen van deze
uitzonderlijke literaire comeback ten toon te stellen. Een limiet van 20 platen kan
verkocht worden. De tentoonstelling wordt nog aangevuld met ongeziene aquarellen.
