Après avoir longtemps travaillé en France,
Carole Roussopoulos revient en Suisse, son
pays d’origine, avec une thématique déjà
traitée par elle à plusieurs reprises: les violences conjugales. Selon la loi, le viol, ainsi
que toute contrainte sexuelle, est un délit
poursuivi d’office et puni de peines sévères.
Il reste cependant un sujet tabou lorsqu’il se
produit au sein du couple. Dans Viol conjugal, viol à domicile, Carole Roussopoulos
et Véronique Ducret abordent cette réalité
souvent tue par les victimes, qui la subissent
comme une honte.
Le film débute par une série de baisers de
cinéma, images idéalisées du couple immédiatement mises à mal par les témoignages
de trois femmes abusées par leur mari. Elles
racontent leur parcours, leur souffrance, et
s’interrogent sur ce qui les a amenées à
subir cette douloureuse expérience. L’idée de
«devoir conjugal» est récusée par les professionnels d’associations telles que «Solidarité Femmes» et «Viol Secours» à Genève.
Cette notion de devoir est encore profondément ancrée dans les mœurs, et de nombreuses femmes subissent des relations
sexuelles non désirées.
Se faisant un devoir de dénoncer ces crimes,
Carole Roussopoulos expose ici la situation
juridique et sociale des victimes de viol conjugal en Suisse.

Nach langjähriger Arbeit in Frankreich kehrt
Carole Roussopoulos mit einerThematik in ihr
Heimatland Schweiz zurück, die sie bereits
mehrmals aufgegriffen hat: die Gewalt in der
Ehe. Dem Gesetz nach sind Vergewaltigung
und jegliche sexuelle Gewalt Offizialdelikte,
die mit schweren Strafen belegt sind. Kommt
es in einer Beziehung dazu, sind sie jedoch
weiter Tabuthemen. In Viol conjugal, viol à
domicile sprechen Carole Roussopoulos und
Véronique Ducret diese Realität an, welche
von den Opfern als Schande erlebt, oft totgeschwiegen wird.
Der Film beginnt mit einer Reihe von Kinoküssen, idealisierten Bildern von Paaren, die
sofort von den Schilderungen dreier Frauen
widerlegt werden, die von ihrem Mann missbraucht wurden. Sie schildern ihre Geschichte,
ihr Leiden, und fragen sich, wie es zu der
schmerzlichen Erfahrung kommen konnte.
Fachleute von Hilfsgruppen wie „Solidarité
Femmes“ und „Viol Secours“ in Genf widersprechen dem Gedanken einer „ehelichen
Pflicht“. Der Pflichtbegriff ist jedoch weiterhin tief in den Sitten verankert und viele Frauen
erleiden ungewünschte sexuelle Beziehungen.
Carole Roussopoulos prangert diese Verbrechen an und legt die rechtliche und gesellschaftliche Situation der Opfer ehelicher
Vergewaltigung in der Schweiz dar.

After a lengthy period working in France,
Carole Roussopoulos returns to Switzerland,
her country of origin, to tackle a theme she
has already approached many times, that of
conjugal violence. According to the law, rape,
as well as any type of sex under duress, is an
offence which is automatically prosecuted
and is subject to severe penalties. However,
it remains a taboo subject in the context of the
couple. In Viol conjugal, viol à domicile,
Carole Roussopoulos and Véronique Ducret
address a reality that is often hushed up by
its victims because they feel ashamed by it.
The film begins with a series of idealised
images of couples, which are immediately juxtaposed with the testimonials of three women
who have been abused by their husbands.
They talk about their backgrounds and their
suffering, and they wonder how they came to
undergo these painful experiences. Whilst the
idea of ‘conjugal duty’ is rejected by professional associations in Geneva such as
“Solidarité Femmes” and “Viol Secours”,
the notion of ‘duty’ is still often anchored in
cultural mores, and a number of women are
still submitted to undesired sexual relations.
Carole Roussopoulos denounces these crimes
and shows up the juridical and social situation of the victims of conjugal rape in Switzerland.
