Showered with awards and Company of the Year titles, Amtoys is the company where the sun always shines ! There’s no need to introduce The Bear Nouky, Lola The Cow, Captain Paco and Co… who are responsible for the success of a company set up at full steam in 1992 specialising in textiles for children. At the heart of this soft, tender universe for children from 0 to 6 years, is an innovative idea from Katia Gilliot-De Paepe, Managing Director, which led to the design of the first soft toy made entirely of textiles, with embroidered eyes and short hair for security reasons, and an easy machine-washability. When the idea is there, you have to contact the right people in order to both protect it and have the means to launch it cites K. GilliotDe Paepe. And the adventure has surpassed their ambitions, for even if we are entrepreneurs, we’re not the type of people that fix our objectives too high. Good management based on the immediate reinvestment of financial fallout in the growth of the company and a major advantage have been responsible for the rest. Katia Gilliot-De Paepe announces, there are only two marketing strategies : with competitive pricing you really have to be as competitive as possible or you must maintain a high level of innovation. Her secret weapon, without a doubt, is the research of differenciation through design. She won’t hesitate in saying that design can revolutionize and make a banal product very attractive thanks to the packaging or its merchandising. The words of encouragement are clear. From 1997, Amtoys employed an illustrator before introducing the Noukie’s brand, under which the famous cuddly toy has stamped his mark as a leading player in the market. Today, the in house design studio consists of thirteen people each with complimentary profiles : stylists, graphic designers and model makers who work with relative autonomy. I put on the finishing touches and give the final approval, because sometimes I think you have to bring an external perspective. Save this intervention, I have every confidence in them because they really do live in Noukie’s world and know it inside out concludes the head of the company. At the present time, more than 600 new product references will see the light of day during the course of the year. A figure that speaks volumes. The brand image and differenciation are the major assets of newcomers, Oscar The Squirrel and Léon The Rabbit. S.K.
