Fahrzeugbatterie abklemmen 2. 3. Disconnect the battery. 2. Identify if an inertia switch is currently fitted. If one is present, disconnect it from the wiring harness and remove the switch. 3. Fitted connectors might be swapped to correct ones for the switch. 4. If the vehicle does not currently have an inertia switch, locate the wiring to the fuel pump. Cut the positive lead (usually white) and connect extension leads to reach your chosen position for the inertia switch. 5. Where a high-pressure fuel pump is fitted it is essential that a relay kit will be fitted in conjunction with this inertia kit. A high-pressure pump will draw up to 13 amps and must therefore be powered via a relay. (relay part no. 311803) B) Assembly 1. Position the inertia switch on the bulkhead or where convenient. The switch must be mounted vertically. Mark through the two holes and drill 2 off 1/8" holes. 2. Attach the inertia switch with two self-tapping screws. 3. When using the inertia switch in conjunction with a low current drawing pump you will simply introduce the switch into the live feed circuit. When a high current drawing pump is in use, you have to use a relay kit. In any case, only use two contacts of the switch, those marked 'C' (Contact) and 'NC' (Normally Closed. Third contact 'NO' is not used). 4. Strip the two wire ends to be connected to the switch and push on a weather seal, blunt end first. 5. Crimp and solder connector contacts to the wires. Push the contacts firmly into the back of the plug ensuring they are secure. If the contact can be pulled out easily, it was inserted the wrong way round. Remove it and turn it through 180 degrees. It does not matter which wire goes in which position. 6. Push the weather seals firmly into the back of the plug. C) Final assembly Connect the plug to the switch and test the electrical circuit. The switch can be tested by removing it from the bulkhead and, with the ignition on and pump running, sharply hitting the switch into the palm of your hand. The noise of a steel ball rattling in the inertia switch will be heard and the pump will stop. Pressing in the rubber boot an the top resets the swilch will activate the switch again. It is highly unlikely that the switch will operate under normal driving conditions, but it is worth keeping in mind that you have it fitted as it should be your first port of call in the event of the engine stopping abruptly, particularly when travelling over excessively rough ground. A) Préparation 1. Débrancher la batterie du véhicule. 2. (Ref. relais no. 311803) B) Montage 1.
