"Procédé d’obtention
d’un matériau vitreux et
optiquement
transparent dans
l’infrarouge, et dispositif
optique comprenant un
tel matériau"
IR transmission materials are generally produced by mixing the elements in a sealed
quartz tube and heating the tube up to the fusion temperature of said elements.
TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
The invention concerns a process to produce vitrous IR transmitting materials like glass or
vitro ceramic which composition is based on chalcogenides. Elemental powders are mixed
according to final composition desired, milled, pressed and then heat treated.
BENEFITS
Smaller energy consumption, very large composition panel even material which were not
possible due to vaporization in standard process become possible, easy to handle, no size
limitations.
INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS
Applications are numerous and thanks to the elimination of standard production methods
should still grow. On can cite thermal imaging (passive optical components) for cameras
or sensors or active optical components using emission or non linearity properties like IR
lasers, optical commutation device or optical amplification.
