A GEORGE III ROSEWOOD BONHEUR DU JOUR A late 18th century Sheraton period rosewood bonheur du jour, the removable upper section with original silver plated swan-neck side handles, the rectangular top, with ‘line and dot’ inlaid satinwood and tulipwood crossbanding, opening to reveal a cedar lined interior with a ribboned correspondence trellis, above two dummy drawers and two pairs of short drawers with the original silver plated rectangular handles, the hinged writing surface with a green baize lined interior, above a frieze drawer with oval silver plated handles fitted with a sliding side compartment pen drawer; on square tapering legs with satinwood inlays and headed by trellised satinwood panels joined by a cross stretcher centred by an inlaid oval platform.
