PRESS RELEASE
Iselin, NJ, USA, June 1st 2011 GEODIS WILSON ACQUIRES ONE SOURCE LOGISTICS Global freight forwarder Geodis Wilson strenghtens its position in the U.S. market by taking over domestic transportation specialists “one source logistics”. “This acquisition is a strategic fit to Geodis Wilson”, says John Gallahan, Regional Vice President Geodis Wilson Americas. “One Source Logistics significantly strengthens our capabilities and not only accelerates the growth of our US domestic product offerings, but also with cross-border trucking throughout North America”. The new access to a broader local distribution network enhances Geodis Wilson’s inland and final mile delivery services. “Taking over One Source Logistics is a first step in the company’s growth strategy in the US”, says Geodis Wilson’s Executive Vice President, Philippe Gilbert. “With the extended link to domestic services in North America we are able to satisfy the needs of a wide range of our today’s air freight and ocean freight clients. We can offer them a better single source solution for end-to-end supply chain management into and from the US. At the same time we connect the domestic customer base of One Source Logistics to Geodis Wilson’s global freight services.” Jean-Louis Demeulenaere, CEO Geodis Group, ads: “Our aim is to, at least, double our freight forwarding business in the US within the coming 5 years, based on external and organic growth.” Geodis’ focus on the American market has already proven success in recent years. Including the 4PL and Geodis Wilson’s activities in the Americas region, the Group reported in 2010, 750 M€ of revenue. It currently employs 1 400 people in the area. US based One Source Logistics offers specialized domestic transportation services with a focus on FTL and LTL, backed by a best-in-class Transport Management System. The company, based in Minneapolis, currently supports a nationwide network of transportation, logistics and distribution services throughout the United States. “We are also specialized in time critical deliveries and mission critical deliveries for the retail industry”, says Mike Tillges, former president One Source Logistics. With the integration of his company into the Geodis network he will take on the position of Director Domestic Supply Chain in the USA. “As a nonasset based company our absolute expertise is the flexible and demand driven management of transportation services. This concept is the ideal match to the global forwarding and 3PL capabilities of Geodis Wilson. It brings together what belongs together.” One proof of this is the newly established Container Freight Stations of Geodis Wilson and OSL at three major gateways in the USA: Los Angeles, Chicago and Newark.
