Bamenda shoes producers group produce local shoes.
Description du micro projet :
The Bamenda Shoes producers Common Initiative Group was conceived as far back as 1998 by M. Mbameg Mbah
Francis as the initiator or founder. The group produces both sandals and cover shoes, and carry out the maintenance or
repairs the used shoes. Apart from the production and repairs, this group also trains children, specially disabled boys and
men.
So far, they have been able to train 10 batches of 5 apprentices each. Duration of training is 36 months or 3 years. The
objectives of the group include:
-Production of all types of shoes and also carryout repairs.
-Assist the massive unemployment problem among the youths and adult alike.
-Train apprentices of various ages and disabled or handicapped.
-Share production skills/knowlege among her memebers.
-Market shoes at affordable prices to the Bamenda population and beyond.
-Improve the health, finacial situation, and to raise capital among the memebers.
The project presented in this proposal is requested by the Bamenda shoes producers Common Initiaitve Group (CIG) to
procure the undermentioned equipment for the group:
- Shoes finishing machine
- Thick and light leather matérial
- Soles and assorted materials
The group is locatd here in Bamenda town along the Old Treasury Street, Mezam Division. This project is necessary in
the sense that the Bamenda population are intersted in sandals and cover shoes. Huge benefits can be derived to
improve the living conditions of groups members, their families and to sell at affortable prices the inhabitants.
It is expected that the project will continually be expanding as the is increase demand from the Bamenda growing
population and beyond. The Bamenda shoes producers Common Initiative Group (CIG) is well structured into an
executive of seven comprising the delegate, treasurer, Assistant delegate, the secretary, financial secretary, the auditor
and the marketing adviser.
Let's precise that project for the time it has started, has taken 6.500.000F with 4.000.000 collected from the members
and 2.500.000 by a fund provider. It has taken 17 months from May 1998 to December 1999.The problems met there
have been the one of collection of funds from members that was very difficult, the one at convincing the members with
the idea and the one of the menagement of internal problems.
COMMENTAIRES : It is very interesting. Shoe repairers and producers who gather in a group is very interesting. It show
that all the sector of acivities are important in the level of developement and all the actors should therefore be involve
themselves for great victory. And it is important to see that the shoe repairers are also working for the people, even this
level is taken in account by people who fight to ameliorate the conditions of life.
