Cooperative Purchasing System – qualification of travel agencies
At its meeting on May 8, 2014, on the recommendation of the Purchasing committee, the members of the
Comité de gestion qualified the following suppliers of student travel in 2014-2015, 2015-2016, and 20162017:

Cooperative Purchasing System – renewal of 2014-2015 contract for oil
After reviewing the bids received in the oil category and on the recommendation of the Purchasing
committee, the members of the Comité de gestion agreed to renew the existing contract with La Coop
Fédérée for an additional year on the terms and conditions specified in its original bid.
Cooperative Purchasing System – awarding of contract in the office supplies category
At its meeting on June 19, 2014, the members of the Comité de gestion awarded the contract for office
supplies for the period from July 1, 2014, to June 30, 2015, to BuroPlus, a division of Novexco Inc., subject
to the terms indicated in the call for tenders and in accordance with the prices specified in its bid.
Risk Management Program – renewal of excess liability and foreign travel insurance policy
for 2014-2015
For 2014-2015, the members of the Comité de gestion approved the renewal of the excess liability insurance
policy covering general civil liability with limits of between $2- and $5- million plus a rider covering
international travel offered by the Fort Insurance broker for the Lloyd’s of London Insurance Company. The
respective premiums will be paid through the funds available in the Risk Management Program.
School tax rate for 2014-2015
The Comité de gestion de la taxe scolaire de l’île de Montréal set the school tax rate at $0.19462 per $100 of
assessed property value for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2014, down from last year’s rate of $0.20460.
This rate will generate school tax revenues of $460 million, up 2.5% from $449 million last year.
All of the school taxes collected by the Comité de gestion are distributed among the five school boards on
the Island of Montréal on a student pro rata basis and fund about 20% of their operating expenses, including
equipment and building maintenance, energy consumption, the management of schools and centres, and a
portion of school bus transportation.

Use of the Comité de gestion’s financial resources –2014-2015
Allocations to the school boards to fund educational catch-up measures in schools in underprivileged areas
will total $7,500,000 in 2014-2015, and they will be distributed according to the allocation rules approved by
the members of the Comité de gestion at its March 13, 2014, meeting. Allocations are up $1,500,000
compared to last year.
2014-2015 budget of the Comité de gestion de la taxe scolaire de l’île de Montréal
The members approved the 2014-2015 budget of the Comité de gestion de la taxe scolaire de l’île de
Montréal, which covers all of its activities. In particular, it covers the distribution of the school tax proceeds to
the school boards, the allocations to the school boards for educational catch-up measures in underprivileged
areas, debt servicing, and the detailed estimates of the administration and the Risk Management Program.
According to this balanced budget, the total expenditures will be $613,105,906.

The members of the Comité de gestion approved the publication and distribution of the Répertoire des
publications du Comité de gestion de la taxe scolaire de l’île de Montréal – juin 2014. This directory is

The members of the Comité de Gestion approved the schedule for regular meetings of the Comité de gestion

Information
Risk Management Program – change to the exclusions section of the Policy
During the consultation process regarding the exclusion of certain activities qualified as “extreme sports”
launched by the Comité de gestion last October, some school boards on the Island of Montréal provided
feedback. To reach at a consensus, a sub-committee was struck, and the Risk management committee will
present its recommendations next October.
