J. FRANCOIS OUTREVILLE Profile Research and teaching experience in the fields of risk management, international insurance, health economics and insurance, government and employees benefits plans. Career and professional experience J. François Outreville est professeur associé de finance et gestion des risques à l’école des HEC Montréal et directeur de la revue Assurances et Gestion des Risques. Il est fellow du Centre International de Recherche en Economie (ICER) à Turin (Italie). J. François Outreville is adjunct professor of Finance, Risk Management and Insurance in the Department of Finance at HEC Montreal and Director/Editor of Insurance and Risk Management a bilingual Canadian Journal. He is a research fellow at ICER-Turin (Italy). Il était auparavant, depuis 1986, économiste à la Conférence des Nations Unies pour le Commerce et le Développement (CNUCED) à Genève et Secrétaire exécutif et directeur de l'Assurance Mutuelle Santé du Personnel des Nations Unies de 1992 à 2004. He was previously, since 1986, an economist at the United Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), Geneva, and Executive Secretary and manager of the United Nations Staff Mutual Insurance Society from 1992 to 2004. Avant de rejoindre la CNUCED, il a été professeur de Finance et Gestion des Risques aux Etats-Unis à l'Université du Texas à Austin et à l'Université Laval à Québec, Canada. Il a aussi été professeur invité à l'Université Nationale de Singapore et à l’Université SUFE de Shanghai en Chine. Before joining UNCTAD, he was an Associate Professor of Finance and Risk Management at the University of Texas in Austin, and at Laval University in Québec, Canada. He was an invited professor at the National University of Singapore and at SUFE University in Shanghai, China. Docteur d'Etat en Sciences Economiques de l'Université d'Orléans, il est l'auteur de Protection sociale et assurances collectives (Edilivre, Paris, 2011) et de Theory and Practice of Insurance (Kluwer A.P., Boston, 1998) et de plus de 50 articles publiés dans des revues académiques et portant sur l'analyse économique du rôle des intermédiaires financiers et de l'assurance, le commerce international de l’assurance, la théorie des cycles en assurance et le rôle de l’assurance dans le financement de la santé. Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Orléans, France, he is the author of Protection sociale et assurances collectives (Edilivre, Paris, 2011) and Theory and Practice of Insurance (Kluwer A.P., Boston, 1998). He has published more than 50 articles in academic journals on the economic role of financial intermediaries and insurance activities, international trade in insurance services, underwriting cycles and health-care insurance financing. Il est aussi un passionné du vin et de l’économie du vin. Il est membre des associations américaine (AAWE) et européenne (EuAWE) des économistes du vin. He also pursues his passion for wine and wine economics and he is a member of the American (AAWE) and European (EuAWE) associations of wine economists.
