Working with Local Schools
At our last Governing Body meeting, it was suggested that parents might be interested to know about some of
our ongoing work with local schools. Currently I chair the CB4 schools headteacher group - schools close to
us on this side of Cambridge – Arbury, Castle, Chesterton, Kings Hedges, Manor, Milton Road, Orchard Park,
Shirley, St Lawrence, St Lukes, The Grove and Colleges Nursery. We meet each half term to discuss local and
county wide issues, e.g; budgets, admissions. In the last 18 months we have successfully bid for funds to
support a number of projects.




Employing a family worker who works across all the schools with a focus on early intervention and
support for families.
Participating in a “We Sing” project 2013/14.
Joint professional practice for teachers where teachers across schools meet, share practice and looks
to develop practices
Sharing of experience for teachers and support staff eg; visiting Castle school to develop
understanding of how best we can support some of our mainstream children with statements.
Within the group there are smaller projects, e.g. our links with Chesterton, Milton Road, Arbury and St Lukes
to enable wider access to a range of sports for all the children of today.

Road Safety on Richmond Road
I have had a letter from the Richmond Road Residents Association expressing concerns about the possible
danger of young children using scooters, cycles and running on the pavement particularly.

at the junction of Nursery walk and Richmond road
at the Seaby’s Yard development
The Residents Association are also hoping to arrange for additional warning signs warning motorists of the
danger of young children and cyclists.

A new Saturday school for French speaking children is launching in September 2013, read on for further
