So what’s it all about?
Here is a quick 2 page review
The purpose of a Labour-Management Consultation Committee is for exchanging
information, obtaining views and advice on workplace issues.
The objectives of consultation are:
-The regular exchange of information;
-The exchange of views on subjects in preliminary stages;
-Obtaining and clarifying information;
-Participating in the employer’s decision-making process;
-Solving problems not addressed by formal procedures;
-Building an understanding between the employer and members; and
-Building a constructive labour relations environment.

Recent examples of topics include;
-Conference attendance;
-Performance appraisal processes;
-Code of conduct;
-Parking; and
-Overtime
There are 9 Sectors at NRCan with 7 of them having
Labour Management Consultation Committees.
The 2 without really don’t have many unionized members
at this time.
