YAMOUSSOUKRO, REPUBLIC OF COTE D’IVOIRE
INFORMATION FOR PARTICIPANTS
A. General
The 52nd Ordinary Session of the ACHPR will be held at Fondation Felix
Houphouet Boigny, Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire from 9th to 22nd October 2012.
B. Credentials
State delegates and other participants are kindly requested to bring their official
credentials, duly signed by the appropriate authorities in their countries or their
respective organizations, and hand them to the ACHPR Secretariat prior to
registration.
C. Registration and identification badges
Participants are advised to register and obtain identification badges in the main
lobby area outside the Conference Hall, prior to the opening of the Session.
For identification and security reasons, all participants are requested to wear
their badges at all times during the Session.
D. Immigration requirements
Every participant arriving in Côte d’Ivoire should have a valid Passport and visa.
Entry visas can be obtained at any Diplomatic and Consular Mission of Côte
d’Ivoire. To obtain visas, participants are advised to check the existence and the
location of these Missions with the Ministry of Foreign/External Affairs of their
countries of residence.
For participants who do not have Côte d’Ivoire diplomatic representations
in their countries of residence, visas will be given on arrival at Abidjan
International Airport, upon presentation of their Letters of Invitation to the
Session.
Visa fees may apply. Participants will be informed of the amount as soon as the
information is available from the host country.
E. Health requirement
Participants must ensure that they have taken the necessary vaccinations and
that they travel with their Vaccination Cards, as these are required before
admission to the country.

Also, participants are kindly advised to obtain International health insurance to
cover any emergency, or in case they are taken ill during the period of the
Session.
F. Weather
Participants are advised to travel with appropriate clothing, as is expected to be
the latter part of the rainy season, which is usually cool.
G. Foreign exchange and Banks
Most major convertible currencies and Travellers’ Cheques can be exchanged in
Côte d’Ivoire. The local currency is the CFA. The exchange rates as at 22nd June
2012 were as follows:

Please note that exchange rates fluctuate, and may vary in banks and exchange
bureaux. International ATM (with 24 hour access) that accepts Visa and ATM
cards is available in Côte d’Ivoire.
Exchange operations could be done at the airport, Bureau de change and banks.
A Bank will operate at the venue of the Conference to enable participants do their
exchanges.
Please note that at the banks, you will be required to present your
Passport/Identity documents, during exchange operations.
H. Travel Agents and Airlines
A number of international airlines operate to and from Côte d’Ivoire. Working
hours of the main travel agencies are from 8.00am to 5.00pm.

Transport Arrangements:
The host Government has made arrangements with Transport providers for
vehicles to convey participants arriving at the Abidjan International airport to
Yamoussoukro. Buses will be stationed at the Abidjan airport and will leave for
Yamoussoukro as follows: 1 in the morning, 1 in the afternoon and one in the
evening. Each participants will be required to pay the cost which is 5,000 CFA.
Participants arriving after the last bus for the day has departed, could make
arrangements to spend the night in Abidjan. A list of hotels in Abidjan which are
close to the Airport has been provided at the end of this Note. Also included are
hotels which though not very close to the Airport, have shuttle buses stationed at
the Airport.
There is an airport in Yamoussoukro. Although commercial airlines are yet to
recommence flights to Yamoussoukro airport, private planes may land there,
provided they have communicated required information to the Ivorian authorities.
There is possibility that Air Ivoire could recommence flights to Yamoussoukro
before the period of the Session.

Lunch Arrangement:
Arrangements have been made for lunch to be provided for participants at the
venue of the Session. Participants who do not wish to go to restaurants in town
for lunch during the period of the Session may buy their lunches at the
restaurants stands within the Session venue premises.
