CANADIAN MINING HALL OF FAME CALLS FOR INDUCTEE NOMINATIONS
OTTAWA, April 8, 2013: The Canadian Mining Hall of Fame (CMHF) has issued its
yearly call for nominations that will lead to the induction of a new group of individuals in
January 2014.
Candidates for induction into the CMHF must be individuals who have demonstrated
outstanding lifetime achievements to the benefit of the Canadian and/or world mineral
industry. Whether the benefit is to the Canadian and/or world mineral industry, there
must have been a flow-back of significant benefit to Canada.
Anyone may nominate a candidate. However, nominations must be channelled
through Sponsoring Organizations or Associate Sponsoring Organizations of the
CMHF. Sponsoring organizations include the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy
and Petroleum, the Mining Association of Canada, The Northern Miner and the
Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada.
Associate sponsoring
organizations include the British Columbia, Ontario, Quebec and Saskatchewan mining
associations and the Association for Mineral Exploration British Columbia.
June 1, 2013, is the recommended deadline for contacting a sponsoring organization
about submitting a nomination.
June 30, 2013, is the deadline for delivering nominating material to the sponsoring
organization for review.
July 20, 2013, is the deadline for the sponsoring organization to submit the nomination.
Nominations must include the specific information described in the CMHF's Nomination
Guidelines.

The next group of CMHF inductees will be honoured at a dinner to be held in Toronto on
January 16, 2014. They will join over 150 remarkable achievers who have been
inducted since the 1989 inception of the CMHF.
The Hall’s inductees are currently featured at five locations. The original Hall of Fame is
located in the University of Toronto’s Mining Building at 170 College Street, Toronto. The
Canadian Mining Hall of Fame Gallery in the Teck Suite of Galleries at the Royal Ontario
Museum in Toronto opened in December 2008. Other Hall of Fame exhibits are housed
in the Nuclear and Mining Museum in Elliot Lake in northern Ontario, at the Britannia
Mine Museum near Squamish in British Columbia, and in the Vale Earth Gallery at the
Canadian Museum of Nature, Ottawa. The Canadian Mining Hall of Fame is also
available as a new traveling exhibit that entertains and educates visitors about the
mining industry in Canada and its luminaries. Featuring text in English and French, the
exhibit is designed for easy installation in venues of all types.

LE TEMPLE DE LA RENOMMÉE DU SECTEUR MINIER CANADIEN LANCE UN APPEL DE
CANDIDATURES À L’INTRONISATION
OTTAWA, le 8 avril 2013 – Le Temple de la renommée du secteur minier canadien (TRSMC)
lance son appel de candidatures annuel, qui mènera à l’intronisation de nouveaux membres en
janvier 2014.
Les candidats à l’intronisation au TRSMC sont des personnes qui ont à leur actif des réalisations
exceptionnelles au bénéfice de l’industrie des minéraux canadienne ou mondiale. Qu’elles aient
été accomplies au bénéfice de l’industrie canadienne ou mondiale, ces réalisations doivent avoir
eu des retombées positives significatives pour le Canada.
N’importe qui peut proposer un candidat. Toutefois, les nominations doivent parvenir par des
organismes commanditaires ou des organismes commanditaires associés du TRSMC. Les
organismes commanditaires comprennent l’Institut canadien des mines, de la métallurgie ou du
pétrole, l’Association minière du Canada, le journal The Northern Miner et l’Association des
prospecteurs et entrepreneurs du Canada (PDAC). Les organismes commanditaires associés
comprennent les associations minières de la Colombie-Britannique, de l’Ontario, du Québec et de
la Saskatchewan et l’Association for Mineral Exploration British Columbia.

Le 1 juin 2013 est l’échéance recommandée pour communiquer avec un organisme
commanditaire en vue de présenter une candidature.
Le 30 juin 2013 est la date limite à laquelle le dossier de candidature doit être parvenu à
l’organisme commanditaire aux fins d’étude.
Le 20 juillet 2013 est la date limite à laquelle les organismes commanditaires doivent soumettre
les candidatures.
Les mises en candidature doivent comprendre les renseignements indiqués dans les Lignes
directrices du TRSMC, qu’on trouvera, avec les Critères de sélection, à

Un hommage sera rendu au prochain groupe intronisé au TRSMC au cours d’un dîner qui aura
lieu à Toronto le 16 janvier 2014. Les nouveaux intronisés au Temple de la renommée
rejoindront plus de 150 chefs de file remarquables qui ont été intronisés depuis la fondation du
TRSMC.
Les intronisés du Temple de la renommée sont présentés à cinq endroits. L’exposition originale
du Temple est située dans l’immeuble des mines à l’Université de Toronto, au 170, rue College,
Toronto. La galerie du Temple de la renommée du secteur minier canadien dans les Galeries
Teck au Musée royal de l’Ontario à Toronto a été inaugurée en décembre 2008. D’autres
expositions du Temple de la renommée sont situées au Musée des industries nucléaire et
minière d’Elliot Lake, dans le Nord de l’Ontario, au Britannia Mine Museum à proximité de
Squamish, en Colombie- Britannique et dans la Galerie de la Terre Vale, au Musée canadien de
la Nature, à Ottawa. Le TRSMC est également disponible en tant que nouvelle exposition
itinérante qui divertir et d’instruire vos visiteurs sur l’industrie minière canadienne et ses
sommités. Présentant des textes en anglais et en français, l’exposition a été conçue pour être
facilement installé dans toute une gamme d’endroits.
