Report on Small Grants and IT Donations (2014) The EIB Institute aims at promoting local philanthropy by channeling support, mainly through grants for eligible initiatives or donations of IT equipment that is no longer used by the EIB Group, to non-profit organisations, local community centres or schools. In 2014, the Institute approved 25 grants, equating to a total of EUR 74 000, for the benefit of 18 different organisations. Organisation of the annual Christmas party for the homeless. Purchase of aluminium mosquito screens for an orphanage in Gambia. Year-end donation acknowledging the work of the Institution. Several works and acquisitions for the Sinchu Orphanage - Gambia (ceilings, cupboards, renovation of toilets, laundry machine) Promotion of using street disciplines (BMX, Skateboarding, Inline Skating, Parkour & Free Running, B-boying, and Graffiti & Street Art) to engage youth in improving their prospects. Beneficiaries of decommissioned IT equipment in 2014 In total 516 desktop PCs and 523 laptops, corresponding to a total of 55 requests, were donated in 2014, to beneficiaries located in France (44%), Luxembourg (25%), Belgium (14%), Germany (5%), Romania and Bosnia-Herzegovina (4% each) and Hungary and Italy (2% each).
