Basic idea:
• New physics: expected to give rise new heavy particles
• Strategy: study all topologies of isolated particles/objects at large PT )
[γ, e, µ, jets and ν (i.e. missing energy)]
look for deviation in all topologies between data and SM predictions

Challenge
If deviation, make sure that it is not a deficiency of
• Monte Carlo simulations of detector inefficiencies or resolution effects
• SM predictions (e.g. missing higher order corrections)
Apply statistical analyses to quantify the discovery significance or exclusion limit
