Asia-Africa Conference / Conférence Asie-Afrique

On September 24-26, 2015, a historic conference on « Africa-Asia : Toward a New Axis of
Knowledge » will take place at the University of Ghana, Legon in Accra, Ghana.*
The conference marks the first time that Asian and African scholars will gather in Africa to
examine the links, exchanges, practices, and experiences that have shaped and continue to
shape the relations between the two continents. It is fitting that the event coincides with the
sixtieth anniversary of the Bandung Conference of African and Asian nations in 1955.
Eight broad themes will be addressed in panels, workshops, roundtables and plenary
sessions: trans-continental relations, migration and diasporas, imagination and culture, aid
and development, the role of Asia in Africa, African studies in Asia and Asian studies in
Africa, political comparisons and interactions, ideas and religious practices.
Several hundred scholars from all over the world will participate in this historic event.

Du 24 au 26 septembre 2015, se tiendra à l’université d’Accra au Ghana, une conférence
historique, « Afrique-Asie, un nouvel axe de recherche ». *
Historique car pour la première fois sur le continent africain, des chercheurs venus de toute
l’Asie et d’Afrique, examineront les nouveaux liens, échanges, pratiques et savoirs qui
s’élaborent entre les deux continents. C’est aussi le 60ème anniversaire de la Conférence de
Bandung.
Lors d’ateliers, de tables rondes, de panels, et de conférences plénières, huit thématiques
seront explorées : Relations transcontinentales, Migrations et diasporas, Imagination et
culture, Aide et développement, Le rôle de l’Asie en Afrique, les Études africaines en Asie et
les Études asiatiques en Afrique, Comparaisons et interactions politiques, Idées et pratiques
religieuses.
Des centaines de chercheurs sont attendus pour cet événement historique.
