Porto Alegre est dans le sud du Brésil Activities Resources / Differentiation Begin by playing nord, sud, est, ouest ; Flashcards/signs with the four compass points. Allocate sides of the room to the four compass points, teacher calls out direction and children – who are standing- must turn to face the correct way. Can get children “out” if they face wrong way or are the last to face the correct way. The faster it is played the more challenging (and fun!). Can ask more able pupils to take on role of caller. Children can repeat the words as they are called to practise the pronunciation. Introduce written word by using flashcards – can they label the sides of the room accordingly – look for cognates. Talk partners – can label on whiteboards first Speak in sentences, using familiar vocabulary, phrases and basic language structures. Labelling stadia on a map orally Show children map of Brazil labelled with the locations of the stadia. Children to label map to show stadia.
