Prayer like a good conversation with God
"Well, it's been good talkin'
with ye..."
That was Fred's way of signing off.
He was bringing the conversation
to an end and saying goodbye
all in one simple and efficient
statement.
H oweve r, t h e c o nve r s at i o n
really had been good. A catchingup on old times and all that had
taken place between then and the
present. That's what sometimes
happens when you bump into an
acquaintance just by chance in a
mall or some place like that after
a long interval.
MEDITATIONS
Rev H. Kleinhuis
Catching up is usually where
the conversation starts after you
agree to sit down for a coffee and
donut or whatever.
Then you compare notes on
family changes and additions, on
health, work and various projects.
And whether you're still playing
hockey or have switched to golf
or curling.
Any of those topics can trigger
a more serious diversion. Things
like the kids and how they can
get into trouble by not accepting
your advice but, instead, learning
things the hard way on their own.
Or the reason for all those trips
to the city to see a specialist.
You agree that time and chance
happens to us all. We get older,
wiser, slower; and learn to laugh
and accept the things we cannot
And, somewhere inside, we both
claim a small victory for
not having as much as
the other.

The Friends of Belvedere have a new program
to raise money to purchase the little things that
make the workers at Belvedere jobs easier. Every
time the ministry cuts the funds for seniors its
these little things that don't get purchased. The
great part of this plan is that they are not asking
for money but that you put your beverage cans and
beer caps in the special bins. They already have
one at the north corner of Sobeys and soon there
will be bins at both No Frills and Giant Tiger. If you
would like more information about this program
call Carolyn at 746-8958.
If you would like to help I understand they will
supply clear plastic bags.
The Parry Sound and District Horticultural
Society will be holding their last show of this
season on November 28. Its their Christmas show
and in addition to Liz Trolove showing some of
her beautiful decorations she will be speaking on
new trends for the holidays.
Members of the Society will be submitting
Christmas designs to be judged. After the meeting
a light lunch is served. Everyone is welcome to
attend.
Our local schools would like to thank CUPE local
17 for their donation to the school councils. This
local decided to donate funds to each school council
in the schools where their children attend.

Someone once said that prayer
is like having a good conversation
with God. "As long," he added, "if
you read the Bible as well and let
God do some of the talking."
Coffee and donuts are
