Read Me First
6. In the event of a system failure, refer
to the following documents, included in
the documentation packet:
Read this document completely before proceeding with the
unpacking and installing of the servers.
1. Review the TIP N TELL and the container for any
damages during shipment. If you notice damage, refer to the
Sun Fire™ 15K Unpacking Guide for damage-claim
instructions. If you notice any damage, email a damage
report to [email protected], your contact for shipping
or delivery problems.
Note – Contact your local service provider. Installation, verification, and
maintenance must be performed only by qualified service personnel.
2. Separate all of the boxes by the serial numbers listed on the shipping label.
Confirm that all of the boxes are present.

Caution – Before moving the system, consider the elevator capacity and
its below-threshold drop possibility when carrying a maximum load.
3. Refer to the appropriate hardware documentation for suggested uncrating
instructions.
4. Locate the documentation in the
shipping kit box. If you have not
already completed the tables in the
Cluster Platform 15K/9960 Site Planning
Guide, complete the tables in this guide.
The guide also contains information
about the facility power requirements,
physical specifications, security and
network planning, and the
site planning checklist prior to
installation.
5. Install the Sun Fire 15K systems following the steps outlined in the Sun Fire
15K System Hardware Installation and De-Installation Guide.

7. Install the Sun StorEdge™ 9960 storage array and controller cabinet
following the steps outlined in the Sun StorEdge 9960 Installation Guide.
8. Install the expansion cabinet following the steps outlined in the Cluster
Platform 15K/9960 Installation Guide.
9. After following the steps for
the installation and
verification of the system,
complete the Installation
Report, located in the system
documentation packet, and
return it by using email, fax,
or mail to the address
indicated on the form.
