Admission is $10. Many great prizes to be won. Come and support a worthy cause! 80th BIRTHDAY Family, friends, and neighbors are welcome to come celebrate Elaine Cormier’s 80th birthday at the Palmer Road Community Centre on Sunday, May 20th, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. There will be snacks and music. COMMUNITY OF TIGNISH • Since Monday, May 21st is Victoria Day, the Municipal and Recreation Office will be closed. • Community Clean Up: Come and join the Council and Staff at the Bicentennial Park on Monday, May 21st, at 1:00 p.m., to help clean up the park and the ball fields. Bring your gloves. • Community Park: We are very pleased to see families using the park for family gatherings and hearing the children laughing and playing. Please help in keeping the community park and ball field clean. Make it a save environment for your children. • Summer Hours: Commencing Monday, May 28th, the Municipal and Recreation Office will be open for the summer months from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday. Callaghan Home & School Association is hosting a Ford “Drive One For Your School” test drive event on Saturday, May 26th, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Ford will make a donation to our school for each person to come to M.E. Callaghan school parking lot and take a brand new Ford vehicle for a test drive. Test drivers must have a valid driver’s license with them and can come anytime during these hours. Only one donation will be made per civic address. Proceeds to be shared with the Bobbi Jo LeClair Building Fund. We hope to see you there! LOOKING FOR… The SSTA in collaboration with La Fédération des aînés et santé en français Î.-P.-É. are looking for people who would like to take part in the project “les porte-bonheurs”, a personalized accompanying service. We are looking for volunteers to offer quality time with a person who lives alone and also looking for people who live alone who would like to spend a few hours a week with someone. LOUIS COMMUNITY HALL HAPPENINGS The St. Louis Community Center will host a Bluegrass & Old-Time Concert on Saturday, May 26th, at 7:00 p.m. Admission is $5. There will be five bands performing. A light lunch, tea, and coffee will be served. A door prize will be given out. Get your money’s worth! Acoustic jamming every Thursday, at 8:00 p.m. Admission is $3. IWK FESTIVAL IN THE PARK IWK Festival in the Park will be held at the Bicentennial Park Sunday, May 27th, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Rain location will be the Credit Union Arena. Some of the activities include: music by Joey Doucette, other local singers, 50/50 draw, raffle tickets, quilt tickets, hotel tickets, BBQ, Cavendish Farms fry cart, Tim Horton’s coffee, popcorn, candy apples, face painting, balloons, games, and more. Also this year, we have an Inflatable Train named Chuggy Choo-Choo, Inflatable Obstacle Course, Celebration Bouncy, cookie decorating, and a teddy bear clinic. UNE EXPOSITION SUR BAIE-EGMONT ET MONT-CARMEL AU MUSÉE ACADIEN Le public est invité à l’ouverture de l’exposition « La Roche & Le Grand Ruisseau : 200 ans à Baie-Egmont et à Mont-Carmel » au Musée acadien, à Miscouche, le dimanche 27 mai, à 14h00. Cette exposition souligne le 200e anniversaire de ces deux paroisses. L’exposition comprend de nombreuses photos et artefacts sur la vie d’autrefois ainsi que de superbes photos de paysages et de gens de la région prises par les photographes Léona Arsenault et Jacinthe Laforest. Une réception suivra. AN EXHIBITION ON EGMONT BAY AND MONT-CARMEL AT THE ACADIAN MUSEUM The public is invited to the opening of the new exhibition “La Roche & Le Grand Ruisseau: 200 Years in Egmont Bay and Mont-Carmel” at the Acadian Museum, in Miscouche, on Sunday, May 27th, at 2:00 p.m. This exhibition commemorates the 200th anniversary of these two parishes. The exhibit includes numerous historical photos and artifacts and also superb recent photos of the landscape and people of the region taken by photographers Léona Arsenault and Jacinthe Laforest. Denis Jacques, notre enseignant d’éducation physique, et sa petite fille âgée de 2 ans, Charlotte. Ceci sera pour les aider avec la perte de son épouse Caroline lors de son décès le 15 avril dernier qui luttait contre le cancer. All proceeds will go towards Mr. Dennis Jacques, our school’s Physical Education Teacher, and his 2 year old daughter, Charlotte. This is to help with expenses due to the passing of his wife, Caroline, who lost her battle with cancer on April 15th. Admission is $10 adults, $5 students, and $2 children aged 5 and under. Each of these sessions will be in a bilingual format for family members who support the child’s learning in French. IMPERSONATOR SHOW The Miminegash Firemenettes will be presenting their 3rd Annual Impersonator Show at the Palmer Road Community Centre on Saturday, June 2nd, at 7:30 p.m. The cost is $10.00 per person. Tickets are available at the door. All proceeds from this show will go to the Miminegash Firemen Equipment Fund. There will be an open bar - anyone 19 years and older are invited to attend. Gail Shea, MP for Egmont, on Saturday, June 9th, at 8:00 p.m., at the Tignish Parish Center.
