DO HEREBY RESOLVE;
DECIDE, PAR-DES PRESENTES:
WHEREAS, the Indian Act provides that the Council of
for any or all the following purposes, namely:
the construction and maintenance of water courses,
ditches, fences and other local works;
the. regulation of the construction, repair and use
whether owned by the Band or by individual members
a Band may make by-laws
roads, bridges,
of buildings,
of the Band;
the construction and regulation of the use of public wells,
cisterns, reservoirs and other water supplies.
AND WHEREAS, it is deemed to be beneficial for the general welfare of the
community to regulate fire and safety.
NOW THEREFORE, the Council of the West Bay Band of Indians at a duly
convened meeting enacts as a by-law the following:
SHORT TITLE
This by-law may be cited for all purposes as the West Bay Band of
Indians Fire Safety By-Law.
DEFINITIONS
The following terms, whenever used in this by-law or in any resolution
of Council dealing with this by-law, shall have the meanings respectively
ascribed to them in this section unless the context otherwise requires:

"
DO HERESY RESOLVE;
DECZDE, PAS-LES PRESENTES:
"Act" means the Indian Act, Chapter 1-6 (1970)R.S.C. and
amendments thereto.
"Band" means the Council of the Band pursuant to the Act.
"Reserve" includes all reserves of the Band.
"Band Fire Safety Code” means the Code dated April 30, 1987
consisting of Part $, Introduction; Part 2A, Administration;
Part 2B, Regulations and the Appendix and any amendments
thereto.
"Fire Chief" means the person appointed by the Band Council to
administer and enforce this by-law.
