External Travel Survey Presentation
AR/DK - PowerPoint presentation highlighting External Travel Survey (ETS)
Methodology and Results
- Presentation slides were distributed to TRANS members
AR - License plate capture sites collect information for vehicles registered
in Ontario only.
PT - Montreal - Ottawa trips can be obtained from High Speed Rail (HSR)
Study which was done in 2009 to distinguish Quebec based vehicles
from Montréal to Ottawa or vice versa.

AR Survey final report will be available by the end of February 2010

2011 O-D / Special Generators Survey Discussion
AS - Need to finalize the OD survey year and then start planning activities.
- City next TMP update is due in 2013. Survey results should be
available before that time.
PB - Pont Draveurs reconstruction could start in 2010 and will be
completed in two years. This reconstruction will impact travel in
Gatineau.
PT - Survey is aimed to collect OD information and will not be much
impacted by the bridge reconstruction.
- There is never an ideal time to undertake such a big exercise
MA - Ottawa Downtown Light Rail Tunnel project will start by 2012.
During the construction, transit service operation in Ottawa will affect
substantially. Therefore, the survey should be done before or after the
construction.
All - It was decided to undertake the OD survey in Fall 2011 with results
available by June 2012. It was also decided to defer the Special
Generator Survey due to shortage of staff resources.
PT - MTQ, Modélisation des systèmes de transport doesn’t have same staff
resources as were in 2005. Therefore, most of the work will have to
assign to the consultant.
AS - Investigate the possibility of collaboration with the DMG in Toronto
for this survey. There might be opportunity of using the software
being used for Transportation Tomorrow Survey (TTS) in GTA.
All - Set up a working committee and start/prioritize planning activities
PB/PT - Survey contract award should be completed by the end of 2010

VC - Received funding confirmation of $600M from province for $2.1B
DOTT project
- Two pedestrian/cycling bridges over Rideau River are planned after
successful completion of the Corkstown Bridge.
