Rowing Canada Aviron (RCA) lance un appel de manifestation d’intérêt pour pourvoir deux postes de directeurs
généraux pour le conseil d’administration de RCA. L’élection se fera à l'assemblée annuelle du 24 septembre
2015.
RCA est l’organisation nationale qui régit l’aviron au Canada en plus d’être un organisme de bienfaisance
reconnu. Le siège social de l'organisation est situé à Victoria en Colombie-Britannique et ses centres
d'entraînement nationaux sont à London (Ontario) et à Victoria (C.-B.). L'organisation dessert un large public de
plus de 13 000 participants par l'entremise de plus de 130 clubs et associations membres partout au pays et est
fière d'être l'un des sports olympiques d'été les plus récompensés.
Le comité des mises en candidature de RCA recherche des candidats ayant une base de connaissances diverse
qui désirent s’engager pleinement et jouer un rôle actif au sein de cet organisme dynamique. Pour quelqu’un qui
a de l’expérience concernant la gouvernance d’un organisme sans but lucratif, qui a une expérience
professionnelle intéressante, une bonne compréhension du monde des affaires ainsi qu’une passion du sport,
c’est une occasion idéale de contribuer à la communauté d’aviron canadienne.
Les membres du conseil doivent avoir occupé des fonctions de direction dans le secteur commercial,
gouvernemental, de la philanthropie ou sans but lucratif et faire preuve d'engagement et de compréhension
envers les parties prenantes et les membres de RCA. Les membres du conseil doivent maîtriser l'art de la
diplomatie et avoir un talent naturel pour entretenir de bonnes relations ainsi qu'un talent naturel de persuasion,
de rassemblement, de facilitation et de recherche de consensus au sein de groupes d'individus hétérogènes. Ils
doivent en outre être intègres, crédibles et avoir à cœur l'amélioration de la vie des membres et des participants

Le comité des mises en candidature recherche un candidat qui possède de solides antécédents en matière de
finances (pour une nomination potentielle comme trésorier de RCA). Une expérience récente et exhaustive en
matière de gestion financière ou de comptabilité constitue un atout et une accréditation comptable canadienne
est souhaitable.
Le comité est aussi à la recherche de candidats ayant une combinaison des compétences suivantes :
1.
Connaissance des techniques de communication et une aptitude à transmettre au public des
renseignements liés au sport au Canada;
2.
Expérience en marketing, développement de marque et positionnement d'organisation dans des
contextes complexes;
3.
Compréhension du secteur caritatif et philanthropique avec réseaux professionnels et personnels et
une capacité « d'ouvrir des portes »;
4.
Compréhension des aspects juridiques liés aux organisations à but non lucratif dans le secteur caritatif.
Les membres du conseil de RCA se rencontrent environ trois fois par année, la fin de semaine (habituellement
au printemps, à l’automne et à la conférence annuelle de RCA en janvier) et à d’autres moments par conférence
téléphonique au cours de l’année. Les membres du conseil peuvent aussi servir d'agents de liaison pour les
comités et les groupes de travail de RCA et offrir un leadership et une orientation à ces comités de manière
continue. La durée du mandat des directeurs généraux est de deux ans.
Les directeurs et les administrateurs doivent respecter toutes les exigences de la Loi sur les corporations
canadiennes (ou de la loi qui la remplace, c’est-à-dire la Loi canadienne sur les organisations à but non lucratif)
et celles de l’Agence du revenu du Canada pour les membres de conseils d’organismes de bienfaisance.

Rowing Canada Aviron (RCA) is seeking expressions of interest for individuals to fill two Director-at-Large
positions to be elected to the RCA Board of Directors at the September 24, 2015 Annual Meeting.
RCA is the national sport governing body for the sport of Rowing in Canada and a registered Canadian charity.
With its head office in Victoria, B.C. and its National Training Centre operations in London, Ontario and Victoria,
B.C., RCA serves a broad constituency of over 13,000 participants through over 130 member clubs and
associations across the country and is proud to be one of Canada’s top performing Summer Olympic sports.
The RCA Nominating Committee is looking for people of diverse backgrounds who want to be actively involved
and engaged in this dynamic organization. This is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is
passionate about RCA’s mission and who has a track record of board or volunteer leadership.
Board Members will have achieved leadership stature in business, government, philanthropy, or the non-profit
sector and demonstrates a commitment to and understanding of RCA’s stakeholders and members. Board
Members will have savvy diplomatic skills and a natural affinity for cultivating relationships and persuading,
convening, facilitating, and building consensus among diverse individuals, along with personal qualities of
integrity, credibility, and a passion for improving the lives of RCA’s members and participants.
The Nominating Committee is seeking a candidate with a strong Finance background (for a potential
appointment as Treasurer of RCA) – assets would include recent and extensive experience in financial
management or accounting, with a recognized Canadian accounting designation being desirable.
The committee is also seeking candidates for the second posiotion with any combination of the following
competencies:
1.
Knowledge of Communications techniques and ability to communicate about Canadian sport issues to
the public;
2.
Experience in marketing, brand development, organization positioning in complex settings;
3.
Understanding of charitable sector philanthropy, with professional or personal networks and ability to
“open doors”; or,
4.
Understanding of legal aspects relevant to a not-for-profit organization in the charitable sector
RCA Board Members meet in person approximately three times per year on weekends (typically Spring, Fall, and
during the annual RCA Conference in January) and at other times via conference call throughout the year.
Board Members can also serve as liaisons to RCA Committees and Working Groups and as such, provide

leadership and guidance to these Committees on an ongoing basis. The length of term for Director-at-Large
positions is two years.
Directors and Officers must fulfill all requirements of the Canada Corporations Act (or its successor legislation,
the Canada Not-for-Profit Corporations Act) and the Canada Revenue Agency’s requirements for Board
Members of Registered Charities.
