Comparative law Biography Michel Morin is Full Professor at the Faculty of Law of the Université de Montréal. He holds a Bachelor in Law from that University and a Masters in Economics from the Université du Québec à Montréal. From 1986 to 2003, he was a Professor in the Civil Law Section, Faculty of Law, University of Ottawa. His research and teaching focus on the Comparative Legal History of Public or Private Law, the evolution of the rights of Aboriginal Peoples and Comparative Law in general. In 1998, the Humanities and Social Sciences Federation awarded him the Jean-­‐Charles Falardeau prize for his book “L’Usurpation de la souveraineté autochtone” (The Usurpation of Aboriginal Sovereignty, Montreal, Boréal, 1997). In 2004, he published “Introduction historique au droit romain, au droit français et au droit anglais” (Historical introduction to Roman, French and English Law, Montreal, Éditions Thémis). In 2012, he co-­‐authored with Arnaud Decroix and David Gilles “Les tribunaux et l’arbitrage en Nouvelle-­‐France et au Québec de 1740 à 1784” (Courts and Arbitration in New France and Quebec, 1740-­‐1784, Montreal, Éditions Thémis). This book was awarded the Rodolphe Fournier 2013 prize (ex aequo) by the Fédération des sociétés d’histoire du Québec (Federation of Historical Societies of Quebec) and the Chamber of Notaries.
