¿Cómo te voy a olvidar?
La Galerie Perrotin, Paris, est heureuse de présenter sa
prochaine exposition, ¿Cómo te voy a olvidar? (« Comment pourraisje t’oublier ? »), du 10 juin au 30 juillet 2016. Cette exposition
montrera le travail de seize artistes : Gwladys Alonzo, Edgardo
Aragón, Ana Bidart, Pia Camil, José León Cerrillo, Jose Dávila,
Yann Gerstberger, Fritzia Irízar, Dr Lakra, Gonzalo Lebrija, Jorge
Méndez Blake, Ariel Orozco, Tania Pérez Córdova, Gabriel
Rico, Martin Soto Climent and Tercerunquinto. Tous ont pour
particularité commune d’être liés ou connectés au Mexique,
qu’il s’agisse de leur pays d’origine ou de leur terre d’adoption.
Organisée par Peggy Leboeuf et co-curatée par Anissa Touati,
¿Cómo te voy a olvidar? investira trois espaces de la galerie au
76 rue de Turenne et au 10 impasse Saint Claude.
Galerie Perrotin, Paris is pleased to announce the upcoming
exhibition, ¿Cómo te voy a olvidar? (“How could I forget you?”),
from June 10, to July 30, 2016. The group show will include the
work of 16 artists: Gwladys Alonzo, Edgardo Aragón, Ana Bidart,
Pia Camil, José León Cerrillo, Jose Dávila, Yann Gerstberger,
Fritzia Irízar, Dr Lakra, Gonzalo Lebrija, Jorge Méndez Blake,
Ariel Orozco, Tania Pérez Córdova, Gabriel Rico, Martin Soto
Climent and Tercerunquinto. All 16 artists have a connection to
and are influenced by Mexico, whether they are Mexican-born
or live and work in the country. Organized by Peggy Leboeuf
and co-curated by Anissa Touati, ¿Como te voy olvidar? take
over 3 spaces of Galerie Perrotin : 76 rue de Turenne and 10
impasse St Claude.

Emmanuel Perrotin a donné carte blanche à sa directrice pour
organiser l’exposition de son choix. À cette occasion, elle choisit
de rendre hommage au Mexique, pays qu’elle a découvert pour
la première fois et dont elle est tombée sous le charme à travers
une exposition de Sophie Calle au Museo Tamayo en octobre
2014. Pour la conseiller sur ce projet, Peggy a invité Anissa
Touati à curater l’exposition, ayant elle même habité et travaillé
au Mexique.
summarize the Mexican art scene’s history and dynamism in
one group exhibition this exhibition looks to offer a perspective
on the rich and vibrant community.
In celebration of her twenty-year career at the gallery, Emmanuel
Perrotin invites Director Peggy Leboeuf to organize an exhibition
of her choice. With this opportunity, she has chosen to pay
homage to Mexico, whose fascinating art community Peggy
experienced firsthand while visiting for a Sophie Calle exhibition
at the Museo Tamayo in October 2014 where she subsequently
fell in love. Peggy has brought on co-curator Anissa Touati to
advise on the project, having worked and lived in Mexico.
For the past two years, the pair has traveled throughout Mexico to
meet with each of the 16 artists exhibited. Through many studio
visits, conversations, and planning sessions with curators, critics,
writers, institutionals, museums, and art school directors, they
began to discover an intimate understanding of contemporary
art in Mexico. In this exhibition, Peggy and Anissa look to tell
the story of their experience in this unique community and to
show the diversity that exists among its members.
Ces deux dernières années, Peggy et Anissa ont voyagé à
travers le pays pour rencontrer chacun des seize artistes
exposés. À travers les visites d’ateliers, les conversations et
les rencontres avec les commissaires d’exposition, critiques,
musées et directeurs d’écoles d’art, elles ont développé une
approche plus intimiste de l’art contemporain au Mexique. Peggy
et Anissa racontent leur expérience dans cette communauté ¿Cómo te voy a olvidar? is a declaration of love to Mexico.
