Nom : Jabbour Mikhael Prénom : Alkhouri Antoine Titre de votre communication : L’apport ou le non-apport de la formation théologique au dialogue interreligieux : le cas de la FPT (Kaslik – Liban) The contribution or non-contribution of the theological formation at the interreligious dialogue: the case of The FPT (Kaslik – Liban). The dialogue between Christians and Muslims is considered from many as a rational madness or as an existential utopia. In spite of the enormous efforts from big illuminated Pioneers from both sides, the reality of this dialogue faces a hard crisis in Lebanon. This fact has a sure effect on the theological formation of the future candidates for priesthood as well as of the lays. In fact, the theological formation at the FPT, endures a deficiency in the universal dimension of Christianity in the general theological subjects, and a polemic or neutral position in the subjects dealing with Islam or other religions. This fact contributes to create a dichotomy between what we think, and what we see and live. To cure this situation, the author proposes some directives for a contextual theology in Lebanon, which will assume the colors of a theology for minorities, and a theology of diversity. Résumé en anglais de votre communication (si possible) The theology in the Middle East is perhaps the best placed to be a theology of diversity. In fact, its « theological place » is formed in a context of cultural and religious pluralism. This theology is invited to have, as a major mission, the hard reality of diversity in the Arab societies. This diversity constitutes the Cross of both theologians and people living or working in such context. We cannot deal anymore with a general dialogue or with what we call “life dialogue”. The dialogue between Christians and Muslims must have the courage to face the real and deep problems caused by being different, and to propose a future vision for the relations between these two religions. Nom : Chan Prénom : Tak-Kwong Title of your paper : The Essence of Faith and Paradigm Change: Catholicity and the Wisdom from the East Biography : Tak-Kwong Chan is professor of theology/ religious Studies, and dean of Catholic Academy at Fu Jen Catholic University, New Taipei City, Taiwan. He is the translator (into Chinese) of several Works of Meister Eckhart, including Reden der Unterweisung ,von Abgeschiedenheit and Liber Benedictus. He has also published works in both Chinese and English on biblical studies,German mysticism, and life education. Some of his papers (in English) include: Kenotic Theology, A Perspective from ‘Regress’ Theory traced in the Thought of Chiara Lubich and Meister Eckhart; Ex 3:14a, State of the Question and a Possible Chinese Mystical Interpretation. Abstract : The essence of faith and its expression have become an important issue for theology today. Theologian Hans Kueng in his book Theology for the Third Millennium proposes the idea that the history of Western theology consists of a history of paradigm change, in which the change of paradigms does not mean necessarily the change of faith. To begin with, we reiterate that the change of paradigms is part of the faith expression, and the best starting point would be to study the issue from the notion of catholicity. After that, our paper deals with the history of paradigm change in the Western Latin Church and its analysis. Finally, it is our interest to elucidate the wisdom from the East which includes Greek Orthodox (communion) and Buddhist Zen (direct perception). This is an attempt to make a new paradigm or new model of theology more answerable to what is required by Catholicity and the signs of time. We suggest the idea that catholicity in the Catholic Church, based on the ‘Good News’ of the Gospel, has two aspects, i.e., history and universality, which are like two sides of the same coin. The former emphasizes the historical succession of tradition and its relating institution, and the latter appeals to the awareness and communion of the ultimate truth by the whole universal humanity. Ultimately, these two aspects have to do with the relation between God and man, including the human relation among one another, which is a choice between unity and opposition. The historical lesson of wars and splits within the past two thousand years of history reveals that, we should emphasize more on unity or inclusivism, rather than opposition or exclusivism. For Christians, after all, human relationship is rooted in their communion of life within the Triune God, by mode of ‘being’ and not ‘having’.
