Aujourd’hui à la tête de Nick Johnson Consulting LL,
Nick a, de 1999 à 2012, été directeur général adjoint
d’Urban Splash, une compagnie spécialisée dans la
régénération urbaine, plus spécialement d’anciens
sites industriels et de chancres urbains. Géomètre
expert, il a d’abord travaillé pendant quinze ans en
tant que consultant pour Urban Splash avant d’intégrer la direction de la structure durant 10 ans, période durant laquelle il a géré un portefeuille de plus
de 300 millions de livres sterling (près de 400 millions d’euros).
Parmi les projets de développement dont il était responsable, on peut mentionner le très en vue projet
communautaire du 3ème millénaire à New Islington ou encore son travail avec d’éminents cabinets
d’architecture comme Will Alsop ou encore Foster
& Partners avec qui il a développé des techniques
émergentes alors encore inconnues en Grande-Bretagne.
En tant que directeur il a supervisé tous les principaux projets de réhabilitation et de renouvellement
urbain d’Urban Splash navigant entre de multiples
disciplines, de la consultation publique à l’aménagement urbain en passant par la responsabilité environnementale ou encore l’économie de développement.
Nick a été invité émérite du département architecture Edward P. Bass de l’Université de Yale à New
Haven en 2007. Il a également participé entant que
commissaire à la Commission pour l’architecture et
l’environnement bâti (CABE), le comité de surveillance de l’architecture du Royaume-Uni jusqu’à sa
dissolution en 2011. Il est actuellement professeur
émérite en développement immobilier à l’Université
de Sheffield.
Nick a été membre du panel d’experts « conception
et environnement » de l’agence gouvernementale
du logement social et conseillé spécialisé de la commission régénération en 2011. De 2006 à 2013, il
a aussi présidé Marketing Manchester, l’agence de
promotion de Manchester, berceau de Joy Division
et ville phare du football international.
Nick was Deputy Chief Executive at urban regeneration company Urban Splash www.urbansplash.co.uk
between 1999 and 2012. He is presently the principal of Nick Johnson Consulting LLP.
Nick is chartered surveyor and worked with Urban
Splash for over 15 years, first as a consultant and, for
the last 10 years, as a director. Nick was responsible
for over £300m of development projects including
the high profile 3rd Millennium Community project,
New Islington and working with various architects
from Will Alsop and Foster & Partners to new, emerging practices that have never before built in the UK.
Nick was responsible at Urban Splash for all major
regeneration and renewal projects involving a wide
range of disciplines including community consultation, urban planning, environmental responsibility
and development economics.
Nick was the Edward P. Bass Distinguished Visiting
Architecture Fellow at Yale University in New Haven in 2007 and until its dissolution in late 2011 a
Commissioner for the Commission for Architecture
and the Built Environment (CABE) www.cabe.org.uk,
the UK government’s architectural watchdog. He is
presently the Visiting Professor of Property Development at the University of Sheffield.
Nick was until a member of the UK governments
Homes and Communities Agency www.homesandcommunities.co.uk advisory panel on Design
and Sustainability and was an expert advisor to the
Select Committee into Regeneration in the Summer
of 2011.

agency with responsibility promoting Manchester,
the world’s original modern city, home to Joy Division and Manchester football around the world.
