The mysteries of the tropics...its idyllic universe...discover it through the
reflection.
A series of pods amidst the woods, suspended over water mirrors. Outside iconographies showing the north hemisphere’s perception towards the
tropics, trough time. In its interior, suspended tropical gardens hidden
from the direct view of the spectator. A tropical truth that never reveals
itself, except through the reflexes in the water. An everlasting mystery
which real image remains distorted by the possible undulations on the
surface of the water and by the fantasies of the mind.
From the mysteries of the end of the world, when Europe ignored the
existence of the Americas, passing through the fantastic representation of
the newly found lands, visited only by a few adventurous men. Then the
romantic idea of an idyllic and innocent world followed by a trustworthy
and scientific representation of the natural aspects of the land. And
ultimately the reports of irresponsible destruction of the natural resources.
That is the truth...outside.
Inside the tropical truth, unreachable, only reflected, imagined

Les mystères des tropiques... son univers idyllique…Découvrez-les à
travers des reflets.
Une série de cocons en plein milieu de la forêt, suspendus en-dessous des
miroirs d’eau. A l’extérieur, des images iconographiques représentent les
perceptions de l'hémisphère nord et celles des régions tropicales, à travers
les âges. A l'intérieur, des jardins tropicaux suspendus et à l’abri des
regards directs des spectateurs. Une « vérité » tropicale qui ne se révèle
jamais, sauf grâce aux reflets sur l'eau. Un mystère éternel dont l’image
réelle est déformée non seulement par les possibles ondulations sur la
surface de l'eau mais aussi par les fantaisies de l'esprit.
Depuis les mystères de la fin du monde, du temps où l’Europe ignorait
l’existence des Amériques, en passant par la fantastique représentation
d'un nouveau monde, connu uniquement de quelques aventuriers, pour
ensuite revisiter la notion romantique d’un l'univers idyllique et pur, la
représentation fidèle de l'environnement naturel et, finalement, la destruction irresponsable des ressources naturelles. Telle est la vérité ... vue de
l’extérieur. De l’intérieur, la vérité tropicale reste inaccessible, et peut
uniquement être reflétée, imaginée.

water, facing up, to
accentuate a sureal feeling.
They will be hung from
thin steel rebars placed in
the top of the pods and
hold by nylon threads.
The plants will have to be
replaced once in a while.
